- Read “Sonnet 130” by William Shakespeare
- Copy sonnet down in its form
- Label rhyme scheme (on right side of sonnet)
- Count each line’s syllables and label (on left side of sonnet)
- Draw a big line between after every 4 lines (quatrains; this should leave 2 lines at the end, a couplet).
- Rewrite the sonnet by SENTENCES (each line should end with a semicolon or period) in your OWN words (you’ll need to look up words you do not know, obviously)
- Copy sonnet down in its form
- How does knowing/understanding the function of each part of the form help your understanding of the sonnet?
