Spanish I:

Today the students presented their Chapter 1A presentations.

Spanish II:

Warm-up: Students completed a fill in the blank with the correct conjugations of the verbs. After the warm-up, we played a review game and the students took their stem-changing verb quiz.

Thursday

Spanish I:

Today the students continued watching the movie from yesterday and they worked on the handout that goes with the movie. Announcements: Presentation 1A will be due tomorrow, 9-30-11.

Spanish II:

Warm-up: Students practiced writing their 6 stem-changing verbs on a verb chart handout. The students wrote the verb conjugations on the board and we went over them. For the rest of class, the students worked on a word-search in which they had to find the conjugations for each of the stem-changing verbs in order to practice and review spelling. Homework: Finish the word-search. Announcements: The quiz on stem-changing verbs will be tomorrow, 9-30-11.

Wednesday

Spanish I:

Today the students watched 'Milo y Otis' in Spanish. As they watched the movie they had to fill out a handout about the characters and write sentences in Spanish using all the phrases that they have learned. We will continue the movie tomorrow. Announcements: Presentation 1A will be due on Friday, 9-30-11.

Spanish II:

Today we finished the movie, 'In the time of the butterflies'. At the end of class, the students were placed in groups with the students who wrote about the same character and they discussed their character in Spanish. Announcements: The quiz on stem-changing verbs will be on Friday, 9-30-11.

Tuesday

Spanish I:

Today we went over the Chapter 1A quiz from yesterday. After going over the quiz, the students worked on their Chapter 1A presentations. Download Presentation 1A Announcements: Presentation 1A will be due on Friday, 9-30-11.

Spanish II:

Today we continued watching 'In the time of the butterflies'. We will finish the movie tomorrow. Announcements: The quiz on stem-changing verbs will be on Friday, 9-30-11.

Monday

Spanish I:

Warm-up: Students translated sentences using the 1A vocab in order to review for their quiz. After the warm-up, we played a review game and the students took their Chapter 1A quiz. Announcements: Presentation 1A will be due on Friday, 9-30-11 (Students will work on their presentations in class tomorrow, 9-27-11).

Spanish II:

Warm-up: Students conjugated the verbs 'pedir' and 'poder'. We went over the 6 stem-changing verbs that will be on the quiz this Friday. For the rest of class, the students watched the movie 'In the time of the Butterflies' a true story about the Dominican Republic. Each student was assigned a specific character. They will be analyzing their character and they will be describing their character and giving reasons for liking or disliking their character in Spanish. We will continue with the movie tomorrow. Announcements: The quiz on stem-changing verbs will be on Friday, 9-30-11.

Friday

Spanish I:

Warm-up: Students completed an activity from the work book in which they had to write questions and answer them in order to represent dislikes. After the warm-up, we went over the answers to the activity handout from yesterday and for the rest of class, the students worked on handout (¿Qué te gusta hacer?) in which they had to write complete sentences using different phrases and words from their vocab. Homework: Finish the ¿Qué te gusta hacer? handout and study for your quiz. Download Act 1A Handout Announcements: Quiz 1A will be on Monday, 9-26-11, and Presentation 1A will be due on Friday, 9-30-11 (Students will work on their presentations in class on Tuesday, 9-27-11).

Spanish II:

Today the students presented their classroom rules to the class. Announcements: The quiz on stem-changing verbs will be on Friday, 9-30-11.

Thursday

Spanish I:

Warm-up: Students completed the 1A cross-word puzzle. After the warm-up, the students completed a fill in the blank activity using the 'negative' phrases from their vocab. We also talked about expressing agreement and disagreement and the students completed an activity handout for practice. Announcements: Quiz 1A will be on Monday, 9-26-11, and Presentation 1A will be due on Friday, 9-30-11 (Students will work on their presentations in class on Tuesday, 9-27-11).

Spanish II:

Today we went over the answers to the cross-word puzzle from yesterday. After going over the answers, the students worked on their 'rules' project for the rest of class. Announcements: The 'Rules' project is due tomorrow, 9-23-11, and the quiz on stem-changing verbs will be on Friday, 9-30-11.

Wednesday

Spanish I:

Warm-up: Students completed an activity from their work book using vocab 1A. After the warm-up, the students completed an interview activity in which they had to ask 8 different classmates about their likes and dislikes. After the interview activity, they completed an infinitive handout in which they had to place the verbs under the correct infinitive according to the ending. Announcements: Quiz 1A will be on Monday, 9-26-11, and Presentation 1A will be due on Friday, 9-30-11 (Students will work on their presentations in class on Tuesday, 9-27-11).

Spanish II:

Today we finished the dialogue presentations and for the rest of class the students worked on cross-word puzzle in order to practice the vocab and verbs from Chapter 1A. Announcements: Students will have their 'Rules' project due on Friday, 9-23-11 (Students will work on their projects in class tomorrow, 9-22-11), and the quiz on stem-changing verbs will be on Friday, 9-30-11.

Tuesday

Spanish I:

Warm-up: Students completed an activity from their work book in order to review the new vocab. After the warm-up, we went over the answers to the chapter test from Friday. After going over the test, we went over the pronunciation of vocab 1A and the students completed a reading activity and a true/false activity. For the rest of class, the students completed a handout as more practice in using the new vocab. Announcements: Quiz 1A will be on Monday, 9-26-11, and Presentation 1A will be due on Friday, 9-30-11 (Students will work on their presentations in class on Tuesday, 9-27-11).

Spanish II:

Today the students presented their dialogues. We will finish presentations tomorrow. Announcements: Students will have their 'Rules' project due on Friday, 9-23-11 (Students will work on their projects in class on Thursday, 9-22-11), and the quiz on stem-changing verbs will be on Friday, 9-30-11. 

Friday

Spanish I:

Today the students took their 'Para Empezar' Chapter test.

Spanish II:

Warm-up: Students completed a multiple choice activity to reinforce the affirmative and negative words from vocab 1A. After the warm-up, we went over the quiz from yesterday. For the rest of class, the students worked on their dialogue presentations. Announcements: The dialogue presentation is due on Tuesday, 9-20-11. (Students will continue to work on these dialogues in class on Monday, 9-19-11.) Students will also have their 'Rules' project due on Friday, 9-23-11 (Students will work on their projects in class on Thursday, 9-22-11)
