Wednesday

Spanish I:

Warm-up: Students translated sentences using their new vocab. After the warm-up, we went over the story activity from yesterday. The students received a handout with different greetings and they completed a multiple choice activity with the greetings. For the rest of class we played a review game to review the new vocab. Announcements: The 'Para Empezar' quiz will be on Friday, 9-2-11. (The quiz will be on colors, months, days of the week, greetings and good-byes, and yo vs. tú).

Spanish II:

Warm-up: Students finished their translation activity from yesterday with their partners. Once everyone finished, we went over the answers. For the rest of class, the students worked on a puzzle activity as a review for tomorrow's quiz. Announcements: Students will have a quiz on nationalities, adjective agreement, and the verbs, 'ser' and 'tener' tomorrow, 9-1-11. On Friday, the students will go to the media center to work on their nationalities 'Famous Person' presentation. This presentation is due on Tuesday, 9-6-11. Download Persona que admiro

Tuesday

Spanish I:

Warm-up: The students completed a reading comprehension activity. After the warm-up, the students worked with partners on an activity in which they had to put a story in the correct order and figure out who was talking. Announcements: The 'Para Empezar' quiz will be on Friday, 9-2-11. (The quiz will be on colors, months, days of the week, greetings and good-byes, and yo vs. tú).

Spanish II:

Warm-up: The students completed a conjugation activity using the verbs 'tener' and 'ser'. After the warm-up, the students worked with partners on a translation activity. Announcements: Students will have a quiz on nationalities, adjective agreement, and the verbs, 'ser' and 'tener' tomorrow, 9-1-11.

Monday

Spanish I:

Warm-up: Students completed the 'para empezar' vocab packet. After the warm-up, we went over the new vocab and the pronunciation. For the rest of class, we talked about greetings and introductions in Spanish. The students completed a couple of listening activities for practice. We also covered 'tú' vs. 'usted'. Homework: Study your green vocab packet. Announcements: The 'Para Empezar' quiz will be on Friday, 9-2-11. Spanish II:

Warm-up: Students completed a reading activity about nationalities. After the warm-up, the students received a yellow nationalities handout in which they had to write the correct countries in order to match the nationalities. We went over the different nationalities and adjective agreement. For the rest of class, the students worked on a nationalities/adjective activity handout. This handout will be a very useful study tool for the upcoming quiz. Homework: Finish the nationalities/adjective handout. Announcements: Students will have a quiz on nationalities, adjective agreement, and the verbs, 'ser' and 'tener' on Thursday, 9-1-11.

Friday

Spanish I:

Today the students finished presenting. After the presentations, the students completed a scavenger hunt using their text books. Announcements: The 'Para Empezar' quiz will be on Friday, 9-2-11. (The quiz will be on colors, months, days of the week, greetings and good-byes, and yo vs. tú).

Today the students worked on their Presentations. Announcements: The first presentation will be due tomorrow, 8-25-11. (Students will introduce themselves to their classmates in Spanish using sentences that we have learned in class)

Tuesday

Spanish I:

Warm-up: the students translated a list of dates. After the warm-up, I checked off the flashcards that the students completed yesterday with the sub and the work that they completed on Friday. Today I checked off the adjective cross-word and flashcards that the students completed with the sub yesterday and we went over the answers. Spanish I:

Warm-up: Students completed a cross-word/word-search activity in order to practice the material that we have covered. After the warm-up, we reviewed numbers 0-30 and the students received a number handout in which they had to write out numbers 0-30. For the rest of class we continued to review and reinforce the material covered this week. Announcements: The first presentation will be on Thursday, 8-25-11. (Students will introduce themselves to their classmates in Spanish using sentences that we have learned in class). Students will work on their presentations in class on Wednesday, 8-24-11.

Spanish II:

Warm-up: Students re-wrote sentences by fixing the mistakes with verbs and adjective agreement. For the rest of class, the students worked on an interview activity in which they had to interview 4 different classmates and write complete sentences using the responses provided by their classmates. Homework: Finish your sentences if you didn't get a chance to finish in class. Announcements: The students will have a 'Bolsa" presentation due on Thursday, 8-25-11. (Students will introduce themselves and talk about themselves to their classmates in Spanish). Students will work on their presentations in class on Tuesday 8-23-11 and Wednesday, 8-24-11.

Thursday

Spanish I:

Warm-up: Students translated sentences using the material they have learned so far. After the warm-up, the students received an 'ABC' handout and we went over the pronunciation of the letters of the alphabet. The students completed an activity with the letters for practice. For the rest of class, the students played a 'ball toss' game to review all of the material that we have covered. Announcements: The first presentation will be on Thursday, 8-25-11. (Students will introduce themselves to their classmates in Spanish using sentences that we have learned in class). Students will work on their presentations in class on Wednesday, 8-24-11.

Spanish II:

Warm-up: Students completed a sentence correction activity which focused on adjective agreement. After the warm-up, we went over the 'Let's Review' translation handout from yesterday. For the rest of class, the students completed a chart to practice adjective agreement. Announcements: The students will have a 'Bolsa" presentation due on Thursday, 8-25-11. (Students will introduce themselves and talk about themselves to their classmates in Spanish). Students will work on their presentations in class on Tuesday 8-23-11 and Wednesday, 8-24-11.

Wednesday

Spanish I:

Warm-up: The students translated phrases using their gold guide from yesterday. After the warm-up, we went over the rest of the guide and practiced pronunciation for the rest of the class. Spanish II:

Warm-up: Students completed an activity using adjective agreement. After the warm-up, the students completed a note-card activity in which each student received a note-card and it either had a question or a response and they had to find their match. For the rest of class, the students worked with partners on a translation activity. Homework: Finish the translation handout. Announcements: The students will have a 'Bolsa" presentation due on Thursday, 8-25-11. (Students will introduce themselves and talk about themselves to their classmates in Spanish).
