Honors Chemistry

We will write up the Molar Volume of a Gas lab in class tomorrow.  Be sure to bring any questions about your calculations to class.  The Test over Ch 12 is Wed.  Reading the Chapter will help you prepare for the test!!  All book work and worksheets will be due on Wed. 

If you like the TGT format, I have attached it for you.  We will not take time to play in class but it will help you determine what you need to review!

AP Chemistry

We are now in 'review mode'.  We will have a short Organic quiz tomorrow (Tues) and then we will conitnue to practice Net Ionic Equations.  We will have our first practice test (Multiple Choice only) on Wed & Thurs.  We will score these in class so that you can see the effect of skipping a question as opposed to a wrong answer.

Begin doing the Review sections in your AP guide book!

Chemistry

We will complete the Molar Volume of a Gas Lab write up tomorrow in class.  If you have specific questions about your calculations that will be the time to ask.   Those of you in 7th period who left your set up going, please remember to come by , get the reading and clean up!

Our Gas Laws Test is Wednesday!  If you like the TGT format, I have atttached it for your review.  We will NOT take time to play in class.

Chemistry

Chemistry

We are doing the Rainbow Lab today.  This is a chance to learn about how to work with indicators.  Be sure to note which is the acid and which is the base.  Our Unit Test has been moved to Thurs April 3 because of the Academic Pep rally on Wed. 

You should be working on your portfolio.  You may have to look up solubility in my CRC Handbook in class.  Please allow time to do that rather than waiting until the night before!

AP Chemistry

We are still dealing with juniors out for GHSGT!  Juniors in 2nd period, PLEASE come by to get your packets on Redox and Electrochemistry.  Many of you have done this, but I have not seen some of you!  There will be no further instruction on this, so it will be up to each student to ask questions or come by after school for extra help.  We should be able to complete the unit before spring break.  Because of the academic pep rally on April 2, we may have to move the test to Thurs & Fri. of that week - April 3 & 4.

AP Chemistry

On Thursday and Friday we will be reviewing all Jrs for the Science portion of the GHSGT.  In Class we will use the USA Test Prep Review to remind you of all the Biology you have learned and hopefully refresh your memory on a little bit of Physics (I'm sure you will have NO problem with the Chemistry portion!)  The test reviews will be recorded as a quiz grade.

While juniors are testing next week - 2nd period only - we will continue with the new unit, Ch 17 -  Electrochemistry.  All 2nd period juniors need to pick up a review packet to work on so that you are not too far behind when all the testing is over.

We will begin with a review of Redox reactions in Ch 4 before moving into galvanic cells, etc in Ch 17.  The Ch 17 problems are listed on your calendar.

Chemistry

We will be beginning the unit on Acids and Bases this week.  It is found in Chapter 20 of your textbook.  We will be having advisement all the rest of this week and most of next week due to Jr testing.  So, even though there will be a bit of confusion for some classes, we will continue with our Chemistry unit. 

You should be working on the portfolio for these two units.  It counts as two Portfolio grades and will be turned in April 1st.

Chemistry

We are finishing the unit on Solutions this week.  Today is the solutions lab and we will finish Colligative Properties tomorrow.  On Thurs & Friday we are doing a student designed group lab.  If you have to be out for the orchestra trip, you will need to make up that lab before school on Mon or Tues. 

Our Test on Ch 18 is on Mar 18th.  All homework should be completed by then:  Solubility curve; Molarity/molality; Chemistry worksheet - Molar solutions; Dilutions; and Mole Fractions.

  Please read the chapter and come by for extra help if you need it.

AP Chemistry

We are finishing the notes for Ch 16 today.  You should be working on the Book Work for Ch 6 & Ch 16.  You might expect that a quiz is in your near future!   We may also add a lab in on Friday on the Activity Series.  It is a fun and quick Lab that we need to do.  If you are out for the Orchestra trip you may make up the Lab before school Mon or Tues. 

The Thermochemistry Test will be March 18.  All homework and book work should be turned in on that day.
