Today in class you learned that the discriminant (b^2 - 4ac) tells you about the roots of a quadratic equation. If the discriminant equals zero, there in only one root and that root is a real number. If the discriminant has a negative value, then the equation will have two imaginary roots. If the discriminant has a positive value, then the equation will have two real solutions.
