Acc. Mat I: TEST TOMORROW!!

Our final Functions Unit test will be tomorrow, Wednesday the 28th. Study your old test, your quizzes, and the review material given to you in class today and yesterday. Here is a copy of the review sheet from today and the answers to yesterday's work and today's worksheet. Remember, I changed #13 on today's worksheet and added #14 and 15, so those will not be on the answers.

Sequences as Functions - Sept. 20th

Today we discovered that we can write arithmetic sequences as linear functions. We also reviewed writing the recursive formula for a sequence. Here is the learning task you completed today in class as well we the worksheet for homework.

This week in Acc. Math I: Sept. 19-23

Friday we began exploring rational functions. We discovered these graphs have both vertical and horizontal asymptotes and discussed what that meant in terms of end behavior of the graph, domain and range of the function, and intervals of increase and decrease.

Monday: We will continue our exploration of rational functions with transformations. You have a worksheet that will be due on Tuesday.

Tuesday: We will develop a way to write sequences as functions by completing a learning task.

Wednesday: We will continue with sequences as functions and practice with two ways to write sequences: an explicit (or closed) formula and a recursive formula.

Thursday: We will take a QUICK QUIZ over rational functions and sequences as functions.

Friday: We will develop conditional statements, evaluate their "truth", and explore the relationships they have among each other.

TEST IS SCHEDULED FOR NEXT TUESDAY!!

New Calendar for September

Here is the calendar for the rest of the month. We are completing our Functions Unit with a study of rational functions, sequences as functions, and conditional statements. You will have a cumulative test on Sept. 28th over the entire unit.

This week in Acc. Math I: TEST ON THURSDAY!!

Monday, Sept. 12:  We took a quick quiz over absolute value and cubic functions. These will be given back tomorrow. We also found two ways to show if a function is an odd function or an even function. We looked at the graph and saw that if the function is even, it has y-axis symmetry. If the function is odd, it has origin symmetry. Also, we verified algebraically that a function was even by replacing the x with negative x, then simplifying. If the function remains unchanged, it is even. We verified algebraically that a function is odd by replacing both the x with negative x and the y with negative y, then simplifying. If the function remains unchanged, it is an odd function.

Quiz moved to Monday!

You will have a quick quiz over cubic and absolute value functions on Monday. You will need to be able to graph (or write the equation of the function given the graph), state domain, range, intercepts, end behavior, intervals of increase/decrease, transformations, and find average rate of change over a given interval. Be sure to look back over the two worksheets from Wednesday and Thursday to find problems for studying.
