Mr. Thompson's 7th period 9th Lit/Comp Class

Students will have a grammar quiz tomorrow.  The quiz will follow the same format as previous quizzes.  Students will be allowed to use the classroom grammar packets.

9th Lit/Comp with Mrs. Roth

Today, we discussed the steps of an epic journey and used one of the most favorite children's book as our investigative tool.  The students really enjoyed the assignment !

We will soon begin our study of The Odyssey.  Students need to bring their books to class each day.  This epic study, The Odyssey, is a major unit.

Vocabulary Lesson 6 will be introduced on Monday, October 31; the quiz will be Friday with the homework packet due the same day, Friday, November 4.

The following week, Tuesday, November 8,  will be a student holiday.

Mr. Thompson's 9th Lit/Comp for the week of October 24 - 28

Next week, after benchmark testing is complete, we will begin our study of mythology.  This is the "jumping off" as we begin our study of the epic, The Odyssey.

Some students still need to make up their elevator speeches.  Please see Mr. Thompson for a scheduled time.

9th Lit/Comp with Mrs. Roth - 1st, 2nd, and 5th Periods - VOCABULARY UPDATE !!!

Vocabulary Lesson 5 - Vocabulary Lesson 5 has been moved from Friday, October 21 to Monday, October 24. This means that the packet and the vocabulary quiz will be Monday !!!

Mrs. Roth's 9th Lit/Comp 1st, 2nd, and 5th period

Next week - We will "shop" at Mount Olympus Mall on Thursday.  Please see Mrs. Roth's blog/blackboard for the project assignment and rubric.  Remember to bring in your posterboard and any other art supplies you wish to use.

Vocaulary Lesson 5 will be introduced on Monday.  The vocabulary lesson homework packet will be due on Friday, October 21.  Remember the vocabulary quiz will cover lessons 1 - 5 will be Friday, October 21.  In addition, students will need to know how to spell each word in lesson 5 only.

10 Lit/Comp with Mrs. Roth - 3rd period

Monday - Editorials are due.  Students must have a hard copy (paper copy) already printed out before entering the classroom.  I will open the computer lab around 6:30AM for students who need to finish their editorial and who also need to print.  I will close the computer lab around 8:10AM in order to gather supplies for class.

Also on Monday - Vocabulary lesson 5 will be introduced.  The homework assignment for vocabulary lesson 5 will be due on Friday, October 22.  There will be a vocabulary quiz over lessons 1 - 5 on Friday, October 22, as well.  Remember, you must learn to SPELL each vocabulary word for lesson 5 only.

Wednesday, October 19 - Students will have a MAJOR assessment covering the non-fiction unit.  Study guides will be available on Tuesday, October 18.

 

9th Lit with Mr. Thompson - 7th period

Monday - Media Center projects are due.  We have spent many hours in the media center in order to finish these projects.  Be sure to check Mr. Thompson blog/website for project details.  Neatness counts ! This is a MAJOR grade.

Monday - Vcabulary Lesson 5 will be introduced.  The vocabulary homework assignment (that is the same for each lesson) wil be due on Wednesday, October 18.  The vocabulary quz will be Friday October 22.  As always, each lesson is cummulative, so it will cover lessons 1 - 5.

9th Lit/Comp with Mr. Thompson - 7th Period

The Media Center Project will be due next Monday, October 17, 2011.  The students have spent a lot of time in the media center completing this project, and we will have two more opportunities in the media center in order to finish up.  If a student has not completed the assignment, he/she will need to finish on their own personal time.  Remember to organize your time.  This may mean that you will have to work before school, during your lunch, or after school.
