9th Lit/Comp for Friday, September 30

1st, 2nd, and 5th with Mrs. Roth -

We will spend tomorrow in the computer lab finshing and hopefully, submitting the blackboard activity that is due by 11PM Saturday night.  Students will also have time to type their elevator speeches.  If these items have not been completed by the end of class, students will have to work on them at home and complete them by the due dates posted on Mrs. Roth's blog.

 

7th period with Mr. Thompson -

Tomorrow, students will have a grammar quiz using the grammar packet.

9th Lit/Comp 1st, 2nd, and 5th Homework for tonight, September 28, 2011

Reread or finish reading Sally Ride's Single Room, Earth View from the textbook.  Answer all of the questions on page 474 in complete sentences and in addition, answer questions 1, 2, 4, and 5 on page 475.  All questions should be answered in complete sentences.  Finally, complete the entire Vocabulary Section on page 475.

What's Coming Up for 7th Period 9th Lit/Comp with Mr. Thompson and Mrs. Rutherford

Students will continue presenting their elevator speeches the rest of this week on their assigned days.  We will also begin the Media Center Project which will take several days to complete.

Monday, October 3, students will receive the Vocab Lesson 4 assignment.  Vocabulary packets will be due on Wednesday, October 5.  Students will be quizzed over Vocab Lesson 4 on Friday, October 7.  As always, this quiz will cover Lessons 1 - 4.

Looking Ahead to Week October 3 - 7 for 9th Lit/Comp, 1st, 2nd, and 5th Period with Mrs. Roth and Mrs. Rutherford

Monday, October 3 - Vocabulary Lesson 4 will be introduced.  Small group projects and presentations wil take place.

Tuesday, October 4 - We will finish with vocabulary small group presentations and review for the Non-Fiction Test on Wednesday.

Wednesday, October 5 - Non-Fiction Unit Assessment

Thursday, October 6 - Elevator Speeches will begin.

Friday, October 7 - Vocabulary Lesson 4 quiz (covers vocab lesson 1 - 4), and finish elevator speeches

9th Lit/Comp - Vocab for next week!!! 10/3/11 - 10/7/11

Vocab Lesson 4 will be handed out on Monday, October 3.  The vocab quiz will be on Friday for both classes and will cover lessons 1 - 4.  If you cannot locate past vocab lessons, you may access them from your teacher's blogs. The vocab packets are due on Wednesday for Mr. Thompson's class. Mrs. Roth's 9th Lit/Comp classes will turn in their packets in on Friday before the quiz.

7th period - 9th Lit/Comp with Mr. Thompson

Mr. Thompson's class will have a grammar quiz on Friday, September 30.

Mrs. Roth's 9th Lit classes - THE NEW ASSIGNMENT !!!!! THE ELEVATOR SPEECH : )

Be sure to look over the elevator speech assignment.  This assignment will mostly be completed outside of class.  No due date has been given at this time, but will probably be finished up in just a couple of weeks.  Be sure to check Mrs. Roth's blog for the assignment.

Reminders for 9th and 10th with Mrs. Roth and Mr. Thompson

TOMORROW, SEPTEMBER 23 - All 9th and 10th grade classes will have a vocabulary quiz over Lessons 1, 2, and 3.  If you have lost previous vocabulary packets, then check Mrs. Roth's blog or Mr. Thompson's blog for previous lessons.

For the Week of September 12 - 16 ..... 9th Lit Update

Mr. Thompson's class - We are continuing our study of non-fictions this week, and as always, we begin each class with a grammar lesson.  This week our nonfiction selection has been Ladybird Johnson's White House Diary.

We will  begin next week (Monday) with a new vocabulary unit, Lesson 3.  The packet will be given out on Monday, September 19, and will be due on Wednesday,September 21.  The quiz will cover Lessons 1 - 3 and is scheduled for next Friday, September 23.

Mrs. Roth's class - The personal narrative assignment is due on Monday, September 19.  The paper must be printed off BEFORE class.  Mrs. Rutherford will have the computer lab open by 6:30 AM until 8:00AM, tomorrow and Monday if you need to work on your paper.  Please be sure to paper clip and turn in your paper in this order:

1.  Brainstorming Activity (10 memories that were plotted on a graph)

2.  Outline (you were able to chose a graphic organizer or make your own)

3.  Handwritten draft

4.  Typed draft with corrections and suggesions from your peers

5.  Revision Sheet that was filled out by your peer, parent, or someone else (If you have lost yours,

     check Mrs. Roth's blog)

6.  Final copy

 

Students will receive a new vocabulary unit on Monday, September 19.  This will be Lesson 3.  The vocabulary packet will be due Friday, September 23, before we take a quiz covering Lessons 1 - 3.  The quiz will also be Friday, September 23.

 

For the Week of September 12 - 16 ..........10th Literature/Comp update

We have just completed taking our notes for our Non-Fiction Unit.  These notes will be available on Mrs. Roth's blackboard in just a few days.  To begin our nonfiction study, we read a collection of memories from "I Will Remember You."

Next week, students will receive a new vocabulary unit, Lesson 3.  A quiz is planned for Friday, Sepetmber 23.  This quiz will cover lesson 1 - 3, previous lessons can be found on Mrs. Roth's blog.  The packet will be due on Friday, September 23, as well.
