For the week of August 29 - September 2

9th Lit/Comp with Mrs. Roth - We have begun our Nonfiction Unit.  Be sure to check out Mrs. Roth's blog.  Next week, on Tuesday, the classes will receive their new vocab assignment, lesson 2.  Plan for a vocab quiz, next Friday, September 9.  This quiz will cover lesson 1 and lesson 2.

9th Lit/Comp with Mr. Thompson - We have also begun the unit covering nonfiction.  Just like Mrs. Roth's class, vocab lesson 2 will be introduced next week.  Keep in mind that this quiz will cover lesson 1 and lesson 2, for the lessons build upon one another.

10th Lit/Comp with Mrs. Roth - The 10th Literature classes are beginning their study of fiction.  Just this past week, the class read The Monkey's Paw and we had a full discussion reviewing the elements of short stories.  The students will be receiving their group project assignments soon that will include a presentation at the end of the week.  Vocab Lesson 2 will be assigned next Tuesday, so look for a quiz over lessons 1 and 2 on Friday, September 9.

10th Lit/Comp for the Weekend, August 27 & 28

If you did not finish the Monkey's Paw assignment in class, you must finish it this weekend for homework.  Remember, you  must choose one of the three options in order to complkete the assignment.

1.  Pretend you found the monkey's paw.  Illustrate your own three wishes and write a description explaining each choice.

 

2.  Pretend you found the monkey's paw.  Choose one of your wishes and write a story about what would happen if your wish came true (at least 1 page in length). 

 

3.  Answer ALL of the questions on page 42-43.  Answers must be in complete sentences.

10 Literature/Composition - 3rd period with Mrs. Roth

Be sure to study for your vocabulary lesson one quiz.  If you had difficulty with The Monkey's Paw, today's lesson, then, you need to reread the selection and bring your questions to class or come by #309 before school for extra help.

All 9th Lit classes will be taking their first vocabulary lesson one quiz tomorrow.  Be sure to study !!!

Also, be sure to finish defining your nonfiction terms.

9th Lit/Comp

Mrs. Roth's classes (Periods 1,2,and 5) - MLA papers are due on Wednesday; Vocab Lesson 1 worksheet is due Friday and students will have a quiz on Friday over the first 10 words.  Be sure to check Mrs. Roth's blog, as well.

Mr. Thompson's class - (7th period) - MLA papers are due on Wednesday.  Be sure to check Mr. Thompson's blog for your vocab assignment.  Possible vocab quiz on Friday.

WELCOME BACK FALL SEMESTER 2011

THIS SEMESTER I WILL BE TEACHING 9TH AND 10TH LIT/COMP WITH MRS. ROTH AND 9TH LIT/COMP WITH MR. THOMPSON. 

i'M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING NEW STUDENTS AND SEEING RETURNING STUDENTS AS WELL.
