Prepare for your finals !!! (9th and 10th Lit./Comp).

9TH AND 10TH GRADE LIT./COMP.

ALL STUDENTS HAVE RECEIVED HARD COPIES OF THE STUDY GUIDES FOR THEIR CLASSES.  IF YOU MISPLACE YOUR COPY, PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPECIFIC CONTENT TEACHER BLOG FOR AN ADDITIONAL COPY IF YOUR TEACHER PLACED IT ON THEIR BLOG.

 

10th Lit/Comp

2nd and 3rd period with Mrs. Kirk

Grammar packets that we began in class today are due tomorrow.

YOUR PAPER is due Monday, May 16.  YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PAPER PRINTED OUT AS A HARD COPY BEFORE YOU COME TO CLASS.  I will open the writing lab before school Monday morning at 7:45. 

9th Lit/Comp - May 9 - 13

Be sure to log onto USA Testprep and practice for the EOCT.  The End of Course Test for 9th Lit/Comp is scheduled for Thursady and Friday, May 12 and 13.  Morning Practice Sessions for the EOCT ended today; however, afternoon sessions will be in the writing lab Monday and Tuesday, May 9 and 10 beginning immediately following the dismissal bell until 4:15.  MAKE SURE YOU HAVE MADE TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS TO BE PICKED UP ON TIME.

1st period - We will review for the EOCT and we should finish Romeo and Juliet.  Your writing assignment will begin next week. 

5th period - We will finish up with the EOCT review and begin a compare/contrast paper as the MAJOR writing assignment for the semester.  Be sure to visit Mrs. Roth's blog and meet all of the deadlines she assigns.

7th period - We will be finishing Romeo and Juliet and the study packets.  Watch for a MAJOR test grade grade as we complete our study of drama.  Students will also be quizzed over Vocabulary Lesson 12 and will receive Lesson 13 next week.  Be sure to visit Mrs. Crandall's blog for updates and deadlines.

10th Lit/Comp

2nd and 3rd with Mrs. Kirk

Students need to visit Mrs. Kirk's website as we are in the intial process of the persuasive writing unit.  The topics to choose from have been posted along with a powerpoint that informs you of the writing process.  The powerpoint should look very familiar to you because it was presented in class.

Each student should have completed their introductory paragraph and an outline at this point. 

Check Mrs. Kirk's blog daily for deadlines; you do not want to fall behind.

Be sure to purchase your summer reading book next week.  Chorus will be selling all summer books for any literature class just outside the lunchroom.

Only 2 1/2 weeks to go !!!!!  Stay focused and know your teacher's expectations !!!!!

10th Lit/Comp

We are continuing with persuasive writing unit.  By now, students should have written their draft introductory paragraph.  The drafted outline will be completed in class.  Watch for benchmarks.

9th Lit/Comp

1st period with Mr. Thompson - We are continuing the study of Romeo and Juliet.  Students will also have the final vocabulary quiz, lesson 14 this Friday, May 6.  Also, the class will be reviewing skills for the EOCT scheduled for next Thursday and Friday, May 12 and 13.  The class will also receive a major writing assignment soon.  In class we are beginning the foundation for the persuasive paper.  The students will be analyzing character traits.

5th period with Mrs. Roth - Students received the last vocabulary assignment yesterday.  Our last vocabulary quiz will be this Friday.  The class will be receiving a major writing assignment soon - Comparing/Contrasting Romeo and Juliet and Westside Story.  We are currently reviewing skills for the EOCT scheduled for next Thursday and Friday, May 12 and 13.

7th period with Mrs. Crandall - The class is continuing their study of Romeo and Juliet.  Yesterday, students received a new vocabulary lesson and the quiz will be Friday.  Skills for the EOCT are being reviewed daily; the EOCT will take place next Thursday and Friday, May 12 and 13.

EOCT PRACTICE SESSIONS !!!!!

DON'T FORGET.....  THIS WEEK EOCT PRACTICE WILL BEGIN IN THE WRITING LAB AT 7AM.  IT'S THE BEST WAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE  : )
