Attention 9th Lit/Comp !!!!!

9th Lit EOCT Practice next week before school in the computer lab.  Come by and practice EOCT in English Monday - Friday, a sure way to improve your EOCT score.

1st period - Vocab quiz next Friday

5th period - Vocab quiz moved to Monday, watch for the new and last vocab lesson next week to be quized next Friday

7th period - continuing with Romeo and Juliet, new vocab unit will be passed out next week

 

ATTENTION 10th Lit/Comp !!!!!

Be sure to work on your persuasive introduction paragraph.  We will be checking for you work on Monday.

9th Lit.Comp EOCT Practice

Next week, EOCT Practice will be held each morning in the writing lab from 7 - 8:15 AM.  A few EOCT Practice classes will be offered after school by Mrs. Winarsky.  Watch for those dates and times posted outside the writing lab.

10th Lit/Comp, April 25

2nd and 3rd periods -

Vocab Lesson 14 was passed out today.  The quiz will be Friday, April 29.  Remember, extra points for flashcards!!!

9th Lit/Comp - Week of April 25

1st period - Vocab 14 packet was handed out in class today.  The quiz will be Friday.

5th Period - Romeo and Juliet Test tomorrow!!!  Vocab 13 quiz will be this Friday.

7th Period - We will continue reading Romeo and Juliet.

9th Literature/Composition

1st period with Mr. Thompson - Next week, we wil begin the next vocabulary lesson.  The packet will be due Wednesday, April 27, and the quiz will be next Friday, Apri 29.  Students should bring their books to class everyday as we continue our study of Romeo and Juliet.

5th period with Mrs. Roth - The test over Romeo and Juliet is planned for Tuesday; we will review on Monday and clarify terms.  Students will be receiving a writing assignment as we begin to compare Romeo and Juliet to Westside Story.  Also, watch for a new vocabulary lesson next week.  The vocab quiz will be Friday, April 29.

7th period with Mrs. Crandall - We will continue our study of Romeo and Juliet.  Watch for a new vocabulay assignment soon !!!

 

10th Literature/Composition (2nd and 3rd periods)

We have begun our unit on persuation writing.  Today, we attended an assembly, The Invisible Children.  The presentation used all the techniques of persuation: ethos, logos, and pathos.  We will soon have a persuasive writing assignment, so be sure to watch for it and the benchmark dates for each assignment. 

Next week, we will also receive the last vocab lesson of the semester.

9th and 10th Literature/Composition

9th Lit/Comp

1st period with Mr. Thompson - Tonight, finish the character analysis sheet with the character you were assigned.  Remember..... you need 2 quotes and be sure to explain.  Finally, you must use MLA formatting.

5th period with Mrs. Roth - Be sure to finish reading the last scene of the play in Act 5.  As a group, you should have rewritten a summary in your own words.  The summary is due tomorrow.

7th period with Mrs. Crandall - We have just beun the Romeo and Juliet Unit.  Be sure to bring your book to class everyday.

 

10th Lit/Comp

Today, we began our study of persuasive writing.  Watch for this major assignment !!!

Congrats to 10th Literature !!!

Our students did an excellent job with their Hunger Games projects and presentations !!! Also, tomorrow, Wednesday, April 20, students will not need their books in class.  We will begin our unit on persuasive writing tomorrow.  Ms. Kirk has prepared an excellent power point to help improve persuaive writing skills for students. Come prepared to take notes.

Remember.....   your Hunger Games product is due on Monday, April 18 at the beginning of class.  Keep in mind that this is a major grade.
