Unit 2 Test Preparation

We will take the multiple choice portion of the test on Monday (09/26) and the Free Response on Tuesday (09/27). Major topics for the test include: everything from the quiz is subject to appearing, elasticities (price, income, cross-price), excise taxes, and price floors/ceilings. I will be here Monday morning in either 510 or my office 410. Take a look below for the multiple choice answers to the questions at the end of the unit in the workbook. As a heads up, everyone will be provided a basic 4-function calculator to use for the test. No graphing calculators will be permitted.

Home Write-Up (due Friday, 09/16)

Take a look below at the information you need to compile for Friday. This will count as a homework assignment as well as the first points toward your final project. If you have questions, please ask them before or after class.

• You can purchase a house, condo, townhome, or condo. The only stipulations are that you cannot rent and your home must be a permanent structure. In other words, it can't be on wheels.
• Your home must be located somewhere in the state of Georgia
• In order to be approved, your home must fall within the range of 2-3 times your gross (combined) income(s)
• Your home will be financed over a period of 15 or 30 years
• You will be financing 80% of the price of the home. This means you will be putting down a 20% downpayment. This will not affect your budget in any way.
• You must find an interest rate and print that interest rate for your 15 or 30 year mortgage.
• You must include pictures of your home
• Provide reasons for why you chose this home. Elaborate beyond details that only concern the price of the home. (Schools, geography, number of bedrooms/baths, etc.) Please put this in paragraph form in your own words.

AP Microeconomics-09/06/11

Today we began discussing the concept of demand. It's extremely important that we all have a firm understanding of demand before we can move on. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask them. Big ideas today were "change in quantity demanded" vs. "change in demand". With a change in qty. demanded, price is the only thing that is affected. All we do is move along the curve. With a change in demand, something other than price has changed and we have to shift the curve accordingly.

Homework tonight:

• Read the rest of the packet from class.
  Read 45-50 in the textbook
  Activity 9 in the workbook
