Week of August 27, 2012

Spanish I-This week we will do a tour of Spanish speaking countries and learn some interesting facts about each one.  The questionnaire and map will be due Thursday and is a major project grade. We will also learn how to tell time in Spanish and work with greetings and farewells.

Spanish II-We will continue with regular verb conjugations and practice asking and answering questions.  We will complete an adjective chart for noun-adjective agreement and do an activity called Una Sopa de Adjectivos!

Biology-Great job on the Unit 1-Introduction to Biology test!  This week we begin our next unit on Principles of Ecology.  We will complete an activity on the food chain and food web.  Be sure to review your notes each night for a few minutes to be familiar with the vocabulary. 

Week of August 20, 2012

Spanish I-This week we will continue practicing with common greetings.  We will learn numbers to 100, the days of the week, the months of the year and how to write dates in Spanish. We will also learn subject pronouns.  There will be a numbers quiz at the end of the week.

Spanish II- We will continue reviewing verbs in the present tense, pronouns, basic vocabulary, and telling time.  A crossword activity will help reinforce verb conjugations. There will be a quiz on Friday on this material. 

Biology-This week we will conclude our Introduction to Science unit with topics on the steps of the scientific method and the eight characteristics of life.  We will have a class activity on identifying living vs non-living organisms.  There will be a unit test on Friday.

Welcome back to a new school year! 

Spanish I-  For the first week we will be learning basic greetings, the spanish alphabet and how cognates will help you translate some words.

Spanish II- The first 2 weeks will be spent on a review of Spanish I material.  Expect a few quizzes, so be sure to review your material each night.  We will start with numbers, vocabulary, and verb conjugations.

Biology-We will begin our powerpoint presentation of Unit 1, Introduction to Science.  We will discuss the scientific method and gathering data.
