This week we will finish reading The Lottery in class and answer comprehension questions.  On Wednesday, there will be an essay on your opinion of when and why the lottery was started. 

We will finish Vocabulary unit 11. 

Week of April 9, 2012

Vocabulary Lesson 11 exercises A and B.  Make flashcards for words.

We will read the short story, The Lottery, and have a writing response to the theme of tradition. 

Week of March 26, 2012

This week will be devoted to writing, revising, and typing your persuasive essay.  Papers are due Friday at the end of class. 

Week of March 19, 2012

This week you will write the introduction and thesis statement for your persuasive essay on school uniforms.  We have brainstormed and written the pros and cons.  You have selected your position on this topic and formulated your thesis statement.  You have already finished the hardest part!

Vocabulary review.  Complete 9E-narrative.

Week of March 12, 2012

This week we will begin our next paper.  We will write a persuasive essay.  We will learn pre-writing techniques to help write an effective essay. 

Continue with Lesson 9 vocabulary.

Week of March 5, 2012

We will begin proofing the essays, revising and finally typing the final product.

Week of February 27, 2012

This week we will spend each day in class writing the essay focusing on word choice, transitions, and staying on topic.

This week we will begin Vocabulary Lesson 9.  We will continue with the structure of the essay.

We will do activities with Stone Fox comprehension.  We will also begin our unit on writing critical essays.
