Week of October 29, 2012

Spanish I-We will discuss vowel sounds and descriptive adjectives.  There will be several activities reviewing the adjectives.  We will also work with definite and indefinite articles. 

Spanish II-We will continue with question words.  We will use descriptive adjectives to write about pictures. 

Biology-The unit test on evolution is Monday.  On Tuesday we will have a review of classification using a dichotomous key.  This will move us into the unit on Prokaryotes, but we will refer back to our knowledge of classification to categorize these organisms.  We will take notes on this unit during the week. 

Week of October 22, 2012

Spanish I-This week we will work with the verb "gustar" and its forms.  We will discuss negatives, more cognates, and make vocabulary flash cards.  There will be a vocabulary quiz on Friday. 

Spanish II-We will work more with "ser" and review regular -ar, -er, and -ir verbs.  We will also begin a review of question words.

Biology-This week we begin the unit on classification.  You will complete a chart, "Kingdom Characteristics".  There will be activities on classification and a study guide on Friday.  The unit test is Monday.

 

Week of October 15, 2012

Spanish I-There will be a unit test on Tuesday on the "Para Empezar" unit.  We will begin unit 1 vocabulary and cultural notes. 

Spanish II-We will review regular verbs and work with the verb "ser".

Biology-This week we will begin the unit on Evolution.  There will be an activity, "Darwin's Voyage", on Thursday.  There will be a quiz on Wednesday and the unit test on Friday. 

Week of October 8, 2012

Spanish I-This week we will review adjective-noun agreement and school terms.

Spanish II-This week we will practice the verb "gustar" and how to use it correctly.

Biology- We will review population dynamics and ecology.

Week of October 1, 2012

Spanish I-We will complete activities in chapter 1 and review vocabulary from this unit. 

Spanish II-We will begin irregular verbs and learn the different pattern categories.  There will be lots of opportunities for practice, so you will be comfortable with all of the verb forms.

Biology-We will finish the unit on Population Ecology.  You will complete a study guide for the test and have the unit test on Thursday. 

Week of September 24, 2012

Spanish I-This week we will learn about subject pronouns in depth and complete several activities for practice.  We will also learn the names of the nationalities.  Finally, we will discuss commands and common classroom expressions.

Spanish II-We will discuss the project, "Una Persona que Admiro"  and review vocabulary.  We will introduce how to use "gustar" and complete an activity.

Biology-We will begin a short unit on Population Ecology.  We will discuss the powerpoint and do several activities using graphs on population dynamics, exponential growth and logistic growth.

Week of September 17, 2012

Spanish I-This week you will learn descriptive adjectives and noun/adjective agreement.  There will be several activities to help you master this.  There will also be a retest on telling time.

Spanish II-We will continue with verb practice for all verb endings.  Expect a quiz toward the end of the week. 

Biology-The Biome Project is due Tuesday.  We will be reviewing the information from this unit and completing several activities on biomes and ecosystems.  Wednesday will be Journal Entries for a grade.  There will be a study guide on Thursday and the unit test on Friday.

Week of September 10, 2012

Spanish I-We will learn weather expressions and telling time this week.  There will be a quiz at the end of the week.

Spanish II-We will practice with -ar, -er, and -ir verbs.  Quiz Friday on verb conjugations.

Biology-We are beginning our next unit on Ecology and Biomes.  You will receive information on a project that is a major grade. 

Week of September 3, 2012

Spanish I-We will work on conversations this week after learning greetings and farewells.  We will begin Unit 1 now that we have finished the introductory unit.  We will begin with the vocabulary for this unit and do several practice activities.  Flashcards are a good way to reinforce your growing vocabulary!

Spanish II-This week we will work on noun-adjective agreement and subject-verb agreement.  There will be an activity on using adjectives correctly.

Biology-This week we will finish our Energy Food Web project and complete the packet on autotrophs and heterotrophs.  There will be 2 Journal Entries for your notebook.  After completing a study guide for this unit, there will be the unit test on Principles of Ecology on Friday.  Good luck!

Week of August 27, 2012

Spanish I-This week we will do a tour of Spanish speaking countries and learn some interesting facts about each one.  The questionnaire and map will be due Thursday and is a major project grade. We will also learn how to tell time in Spanish and work with greetings and farewells.

Spanish II-We will continue with regular verb conjugations and practice asking and answering questions.  We will complete an adjective chart for noun-adjective agreement and do an activity called Una Sopa de Adjectivos!

Biology-Great job on the Unit 1-Introduction to Biology test!  This week we begin our next unit on Principles of Ecology.  We will complete an activity on the food chain and food web.  Be sure to review your notes each night for a few minutes to be familiar with the vocabulary.
