Monday - Jane Austen assignment is due- Homework from 4/29-  Read the letter on page 781 (gray book) or on page  (913) green book which is online (user name and password).  GRAY BOOK- Under Review and Assess-p. 783 answer questions 1,2,3 in complete sentences or in green book, p. 915, Critical Reading questions 1,2,3 - answer in complete sentences

Review speech requirements; peer review of timed essay from last week.

Tuesday and Wednesday - Review Austen, Wollstonecraft, and Bronte

Thursday and Friday - Speeches presented

Monday - continue analyzing rhetorical devices using Patrick Henry's speech

H.W. - practice grammar questions which relate to curriculum and relate to SAT grammar questions. Record answers to SAT grammar on note book paper with an explanation as to why you chose this answer. Ex. Correct sentence verb agreement. This will be collected Tuesday and graded.

Tuesday - graded- timed writing practice for Georgia Writing Exam- (Passing of test required for diploma- juniors take in September, 2011).

Wednesday - review of released essays from Georgia Dept. of Education (GDOE) using GDOE rubric

Thursday - review grammar homework; if time allows- start story by Jane Austen.

Friday - Period 1 - Honors assembly; other classes will view movie - Jane Austen

Voc. quiz on Monday - Unit 9 SAT words - Required to write compound, complex, and compound complex sentences - using commas correctly;

Semi-colons review after quiz.

Tuesday - continue analysis of persuasive writing; review semi colons and colons

Wednesday - Honors Assembly - 1st and 2nd period;  Rhetorical Analysis of Patrick Henry's Speech

Thursday - timed writing to be graded or continue P. Henry rhetorical analysis- review for test tomorrow.

Persuasive writing - most common form of writing in high school and college. Mode of testing for the Georgia High School Writing Test (September 2011) and SAT.

Basic components of persuasive writing and examples.

Wednesday - Voc. review; Persuasive Writing continued; Homework- handout to find an example of persuasive writing or advertisement- bring to class tomorrow.

Thursday - Persuasive writing- Rhetorical Triangle

Friday - Persuasive writing - how to improve style - use of high level vocabulary- and sentence variety emphasis on complex and compound complex sentences-
