Math 3

Quiz over polynomials:  know  parent graphs, transformations, domain, range, end behavior, finding zeros. y intercept, intervals of increasing and decreasing, relative max and mins, absolute max and mins. odd and even, degree, leading coefficient.  Test Tuesday, October 4 over same material.

The learner will be able to determine the successive derivatives of a function and apply them to problems, such as speed, velocity and acceleration.

Short quiz on odd and even functions

We will talk about the end behavior polynomials and also intervals of increasing and decreasing.  Assignment is out of the book page 69 8-13 all 17-19 all and page 70 5-10 all and 14-16 all.  Finish the task packet that was given to you earlier.  Quiz over all topics on Friday and Test on tuesday, October 4

Calculus:

Continue with rectilinear motion problems on page 137 poblems 23,24,26,31,32,34,35,36,37,38,40-45 all

 

Lesson for Tuesday, September 27

Math 3

Monday - Students looked at symmetry about the y-axis and the origin.  Students also looked at odd and even functions

Tuesday - Students will look at domain and range of functions and the zeros of the functions.

Homework is on page 78 problems 1-25  factoring practice, the students were given a worksheet with multiple graphs and they must tell the domain and range of each graph  Students will continue to work on the task on polynomials and do sections 6 and 7 finding domain and range and zeros.

Math 3

Continue discovering characteristics of Polynomials.  Today we will look at symmetry about the y axis and the origin.  If a function has symmetry about the y axis it is an even function and symmetry about the origin is odd.  Homework is page 69 11-13 all and page 70 8-10 all.  Continue with the task on polynomials and do the section on symmetry.

On Friday we will look at symmetry of graphs.  Symmetry about the y axis and the origin.  Students should have some knowledge of transformations of parent graphs from Friday's assignment.  Homework is the first 3 pages of our task worksheets, and page 74 from the book problems 1-8, 12-14,18,19

4.  Write the equation of a normal line

5.  KNow proper calculus notation in describing discontinuities

6.  Know the definition of differentiable

7.  Be able to distinguish graphically the first, second and third derivatives

Continue with solving quadratic inequality equations.  Using a graphing calculator and algebraically.  Page 84 problems 1-18 all and 21

Calculus:  Review for the test on Thursday.  Students must know the following:

The students took a test over matrices on Monday. We will start the unit on polynomials:

We will look at graphing quadratic inequalities and also solving quadratic inequalities algebraically.

Calculus:  Returned the quiz on Monday and gave the students multiple choice AP questions over limits, discontinuity, vertcial and horizontal asymptotes.  On Tuesday the students will be given an old quiz to use as a review for the test on Thursday, September 22.

Lesson for Monday, September 19

Math 3  Test over vertex edge, writing equations given two points for a line and given three points for a parabola, graphing inequalities, and linear programming.

Calculus:  Multiple choice questions on limits, discontinuities and derivatives.  Test on Thursday, Sept 22
