Math 3

Continue with conics:  the students will continue to look at parabolas.  they will need to know the followIng: identify a parabola from the general form, put the equation in standard form from general form, find the vertex, focus, directrix, which way it opens, axis of symmetry and the latus rectum.  Homework is a worksheet problems 11-32 all

Calculus:  Find the area between two curves worksheet problems 1-22 all

Math 3   Worksheets on circles and determining the conics from the general equations

Calculus:  We will go over the quizzes that we took on Thursday.

Math 3

Students will be able to identify a conic by the general equation and then  take a general equation and put it in standard form for each conic. homework is on page 197 23-34 all

Calculus:  Topics include the fundamental theorem of calculus part I and II, U-substitution, trapazoid rule, particle motion.  Quiz on Thursday over the same material.

Lesson for Wednesday, February 16

Math 3

We will start circles:  student should be able to recognize the general equation of a circle, take a general equation and put in standard form, find the center, radius and find the equation of the tangent line to the circle at a point.  Homework is problems 1-10 on a worksheet, page 182 problems 1-19 all and 23, 24

Calculus:  Students will be given two old quizzes for practice and to complete for a quiz grade.  Topics include the fundamental theorem of calculus part I and II, U-substitution, trapazoid rule, particle motion.  Quiz on Thursday over the same material.

Lesson for Tuesday, February 15

Math 3  Worksheet on completing the square.  This is a requirement that must be mastered for conics.  We will start conics on Wednesday.

Calculus:  Finish worksheet, bookwork and AP questions on FTC. 

Lesson for Monday, February 14

Math 3   Students took a sample diagostic test on Friday.  We will review that test on Monday and the students will work pages 1-20 in the test preparation test guide that was handed out.  We only have conics to cover prior to the graduation test and will be spending a good amount of time preparing for that test.

Calculus:  Worksheet on solving integrals using U-Substitution and normal integration procedures.

Lesson for Friday, February 11

Math 3  Students will take a diagnostic test as a review for the Georgia High School Graduation Test.  This will serve as a review of previous material mastered.

Calculus:  Using U-substitution in evaluating integrals; page 337 1-10 review, 1-12 all and 17-35 all

Lesson for Thursday, February 10

Math 3  Test  11 questions:  factoring, solve polynomial inequalities, solve radical equations, solve equations with rational exponents, solve equations with absolute value, and the box problem where the student will find the maximum volume and dimensions that give that maximum volume.

calculus:  Test over Rieman sums, basic definition of integrals and RAM.  10 questions.

Lesson for Wednesday, February 9

Review for the test on Thursday,  Problems on the test:  factoring, polynomial inequality, rational exponent equations, absolute value, and the box problem.

Calculus:  

Review for the test on  Thursdsay,  Student must be able to use Riemann sums and properties of integrals and the theory behind the integral.
