Accelerated Math III - April 28, 2011 - Planes and Vectors

Today we looked at how to graph planes and the relationship between planes and vectors perpendicular to them.  The assignment is Pg. 477:  Q1 – Q10, 1 – 16.  

Note the tomorrow, many of you will miss this class, so be sure to drop by to pick up the worksheet for tomorrow.  We are looking at the definition of the cross-product and what that means. 

Accelerated Math II - April 28,2011 - Inverses

Today we looked at inverses of 2 X 2 matrices and every class discovered the pattern for finding that.  The assignment is Pg. 57, 1-8.  We also took the first part of the first quiz.

Accelerated Math 2 - April 27, 2011 - Quiz Tomorrow

Today we looked at determinants of larger matrices and the homework is to complete the worksheet that we started today in class.

Tomorrow students have a quick (11 question) quiz on matrices.  They will be expected to know how to find the dimensions of a matrix, how to label one entry in a matrix, how to multiply a matrix by a scalar, how to add matrices, how to multiply matrices, and how to find the determinant of 2 X 2 and 3 X 3 matrices, as well as recognize when these operations cannot be done. 

Accelerated Math 3 - April 27, 2011 - Projections

Today we looked at Scalar and Vector Projections and Orthogonal Components. 

The assignment is  Pg. 471:  Q1 - Q10 omit Q7 and 1-30 omit 2, 4, 8, 14, 16. 28

Accelerated Math II - April 26, 2011 - Determinants of Matrices

Accelerated Math III - April 26, 2011 - 3-D Vectors

Attached are the tentative plans for 3-D vectors. Download Accelerated 3 Vector Unit Plans  I haven't checked these against AP exams, etc., so this may be changed, but at least you can get a feel for how much is left to do.  Let me know of any know conflicts ASAP.  The assignment for the night is pg. 464:  Q1 - Q10 and 1 - 19.  Go back and review the 2-D vectors if you feel you need to do so.

Accelerated Math II - April 25, 2011 - Matrices

Friday students investigated matrices and what arithmetic could be done with them using appropriate technology...  Today they refine the algebra behind multiplication. 

Accelerated Math III - April 25, 2011 - Polar Test

Friday the parametric eggs were due and they look very nice!  Today students took a test on polar graphing and equations.  Tonight the assignment is to A) look over the vector quiz and have any remaining questions ready since we venture into 3-D vectors next B) have the vector review sheet ready to check and C) make a list of everything you know about vectors and another list of everything you don't know about vectors. 

Accelerated Math III - April 20, 2011 - Polar, still...

With little class time today, we just went over questions on polar graphing.  First period looked more at the conic sections and second period looked more at the intersections vs. simultaneous solutions.  A good review would be to do the chapter test at the end of the polar chapter in your text:  Pg. 635: T1 - T17  (And, yes you can do all of the problems, especially #15 and even #16!)
