Parents - Be sure to ask your student about what we did in class and check to make sure their homework is being done by asking to see it.  Also, ask your child to explain how to do his/her homework as this will help reinforce the concepts.

Extra help is available on Monday and Wednesday afternoons starting at 3:30.  You may also get extra help on Monday and Wednesday mornings with Mr. Hodge in room 311.  His times are from 7:30-7:50.  Take advantage of these help times if you are not understanding the material.

We're almost there!

We are so close to finishing our year, so don't stop working now!  We have finished our EOCT and as soon as the scores come back from the state, I will put them in.  You should be working on studying for your Final Exam.  I suggested that you do the problems in the back of the book covering Chapters 7-12.  This starts on page 815.  I also suggested that you study your tests and quizzes.  We will continue to review in class.  Since I showed you your average on Wednesday, you know where you stand and what you need to do to get the grade you want.  Aim for the highest that you can make.  Monday will be the last day of my afterschool help.  Study well and pace yourself.  Good luck on all of your exams!

Winding up our year

I hope you are doing well on your cumulative test today.  This is wonderful opportunity to show me that you are ready for the End of Course test that we will take next Monday and Tuesday.  If you do well on the test today, this can also replace your lowest test grade.  We will spend the rest of the week reviewing for the EOCT.  Make sure that you do all of your homework every day so that you will be prepared for next week.  We will visit the writing lab on Friday to see where you will be taking your test on Monday.  This way you will know where your assigned seat will be prior to taking the test.  I hope you have been going to the GA Dept. of Education website ( www.gadoe.org)  and taking the Practice tests that are available to you.  Please do all that you can to be successful on this test.  This is another opportunity for you to make a difference in your grade.  After the EOCT, we will cover a few more topics on transformations (Chapter 7) to finish out the year.  Then exams will begin.  Pace yourself as you study for your exams.  Don't expend all of your energy and efforts on the first days exam.  Your have to study a little bit each day for each exam.  Start now getting ready for these tests! 

Chapter 11 Calendar

I hope you are doing well on your chapter test today.  I am providing you with the calendar for chapter 11 in case you should misplace your copy that I will give to you tomorrow.  We will finish this chapter before Spring Break.  In fact our test will be on the Thursday before we get out for a week.  No math to do over the break!        Download Geometry chapter 11 calendar

Quiz on Wednesday

I hope you used some time this past weekend to study for your quiz.  We continue to review today and tomorrow with worksheets.  Since our quiz is on Wednesday, I will not have a help session on Wednesday afternoon.  We start a new lesson on segments in a circle on Thursday.  We are nearing the end of this chapter.  Make sure you are studying a little every day.

Change in calendar assignments for Wednesday(2/25) and Thursday(2/26)

I have had to change our calendar.  I taught lesson 10.4 today and your homework for tonight is on Page 624 problems #8-34, 42, 43, 49-51.  Your homework tomorrow night will be 2 worksheets.  You will have time to work on these during class tomorrow.  Make sure you use your time wisely when I give you time to do work in class. 

Chapter 10 - Circles Calendar

We start our chapter on circles today.  There is lots of vocabulary to learn, so start tonight with learning today's terms.  Make vocab cards to use to study.  I am attaching the chapter 10 calendar for those of you who are not in class today.  Read the first lesson, make notes, and do the homework assigned on the calendar so that you won't be behind.    Download Geometry Chapter 10 

You will get your Test on Right Triangles back on Thursday.  I hope your grade is what you wanted it to be.   

We finished our last lesson in Chapter 9 yesterday.  We will continue to practice our Right Triangle knowledge for the rest of this week.  Make sure that you are doing all of the homework as that will help you study for the test next Tuesday.  Come to class with any questions that you may have over any parts we have covered in Chapter 9.  Also, plan to do a lot of studying over the week-end.  Get together with a friend to study and question each other.  Remember that you have 3 days to study, so you should be well prepared for your test on Tuesday.

No extra help Today

I have a doctor's appointment that was changed to this afternoon and I will not be able to have extra help today.  I will be available on Wednesday to help you get ready for your quiz on Friday.  We took up the converse of the Pythagorean theorem today and will take up special right triangles tomorrow.  Don't forget to be studying geometric means as well as the Pythagorean theorem as you prepare for your quiz.

Chapter 9 calendar

I hope you studied well this week-end for the chapter 8 test you have tomorrow.  I am going ahead and posting the calendar for Chapter 9 (Right Triangles!) for those of you that like to plan ahead.  Please note that you will only have 1 announced quiz in this chapter.  You will do the 2nd quiz as a homework.  Also, I hate to have to do this, but time forces our test to be on the Tuesday after your President's Day Holiday. I don't like the timing either, but in order for us to finish the material in time for the EOCT, this must be done.  The 1st quiz is Friday, Feb, 6 and your test is Tuesday, Feb. 17.  Download GEOMETRY chapter 9 calendar  

Geometry - Chapter 8

Welcome to 2nd semester!  I hope the start of your semester has gone well.  You got your first quiz back yesterday and I hope that you have gone over it to correct any mistakes.  See me if you have any further questions.  Next week we will review to get ready for your quiz on Thursday the 22nd.  On Friday we will learn the last lesson of the chapter - Dilations.  Start studying now for your test on the 27th.  I am attaching the chapter 8 calendar in case you have misplaced yours.  Have a nice long weekend!       Download Geometry chapter 8 calendar
