What a wonderful turn out for this informational meeting! I did get answers to our questions. We may use satin binding. It is more expensive, but the kids love it. Embroidery is fine as long as there is soft fabric behind it - no embellishments like buttons, pins or ribbons that may come off. Cotton-poly blends are okay for quilting as long as there is more cotton than polyester and the fabric is washed to remove the sizing. The information sheet Download Project Linus Information Sheet has been updated to reflect the clarifications.
We need a name for our group, logo, decision on t-shirts. Many clubs and organizations are on board with allowing blanket making to count toward service hours.
Someone asked if we had a goal for the number of blankets we would like to donate - my response may have been off base. I indicated that the Lassiter community should be able to come up with 500 a year... Too many? No matter. We are looking to make blankets for kids who need them and the number does not really matter.
Our next meeting is next Tuesday, 08-30 at 3:30 in room 810. Bring a project you may wish to make. Please contact me if there are any questions.
