Week of 05-02-11

We continue the study of Civil Liberties and Civil Rights through Thursday.  On Friday, the classes will take a released AP exam for a grade and we will review it the following Monday (05-09).  A list of the most important Supreme Court cases has been added to the Supreme Court Cases page on the blog – it was distributed at the review session on 04-27.  The final review session will be held on 05-04 and will cover the Constitution.  Please see the calendar and Key Terms for course of study details.

Week of 05-02-11

On Thursday, 04-28, students were given an extra credit opportunity – “Dining Through the Decades”.   This small project will be counted as 100 minor points or 50 major points.  The last sections of this unit will be discussed on Monday and we will test on Tuesday.  The rest of this week and all of next week will be devoted to review for the EOCT which will be given on 05-16 and 05-17.  Please see the calendar and Key Terms for course of study details.

Week of 04-25-11

We begin the week by looking at President Nixon and the Watergate scandal and will then spend the rest of the week studying Presidents Ford, Carter, and Reagan.  Friday is the Honors Awards Assembly.  Please see the calendar and Key Terms for course of study details.

Week of 04-25-11

We conclude Unit 4 in the first two days of the week by continuing our study of the media via clips from Frontline’s “News War” documentary.  If you missed class last Friday, 04-22, you need to watch it online at http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/newswar/view/.  There is an announced quiz on Monday, 04-25 and Unit 4 take home FRQs will be distributed on Tuesday, 04-26.  The FRQs are due on Friday, 04-29 and will not be accepted after that.  The rest of the week will be devoted to Unit 7 – Civil Rights and Civil Liberties and the 1^st and 2^nd Amendments.  The 3^rd exam review session will be held on Wednesday, 04-27.  Please see the calendar and Key Terms for course of study details.

 

Week of 04-18-11

After a discussion of the Nixon administration, we will spend the remainder of the class days on the various reform and protest movements.  There is a test over chapters 29 and 30 on Friday, 04-22.  Please see the calendar and Key Terms for course of study details.

We are scheduled to study the nature and functions of special interest groups this week.  Please remember that test corrections are due on Tuesday.  The Academic Pep Rally is on Wednesday, so 1^st period will not have a class and I am not sure about the schedule for 2^nd period.  Please see the calendar and Key Terms for course of study details.

This week we start our study of Unit 7 – Vietnam and the Protest Movement and will study the origin of the war and its impact.  In the middle of the week there is a lesson conducted by the school counseling office.  Please see the calendar and Key Terms for course of study details.

AP Review Sessions begin Wednesday of this week and you must sign up for each session.  On Monday we will cover the rest of campaign finance and test out of Unit 3 on Tuesday.  The rest of the week we will study the history, function and organization of political parties – the first segment of Unit 4.  Please see the calendar and Key Terms for course of study details.
