Drama (Period 1)
Continued with unit on improvisational acting. Broke up into groups that will be used for the final improv performances next week. In groups, played more improv games: Freeze, Secret Endowment, Typist/Narrator, and Party Quirks.
Brit Lit (Periods 2 & 5)
Returned various papers and tests. Introduction to The Canterbury Tales (basically, pages 90-93 in the textbook).
Contemp Lit (Periods 3 & 7)
Returned various papers and tests. Some class discussion on Thirteen Days and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Homework assignment given (see below).
HW: Get in touch with someone who remembers the Cuban Missile Crisis, and interview them. (Probably needs to be someone 60 or older.) Ask/learn:
1. Approximate age?
2. What they remember about the specifics of the situation; how informed were they?
3. Where did they live?
4. What were their and those around them emotions of the time?
5. What precautions did they take?
6. Follow up questions based on answers.
Write it up — paragraph or bullets — does not need to be formal or typed. Students will share findings and write ups will be collected tomorrow.
PLEASE NOTE: Students should begin to obtain a copy of their next parallel reading: The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien. If the book is going to be ordered, it should be done NOW.
