FRENCH 3 - I am attaching the answers to the homework assignment from Wednesday evening. The numbers that are starred are important for Monday's quiz. Some of the clues are almost word-for-word; others are rephrased a bit. I am also attaching some practice activities for your use:

FRENCH 3 - Today in class you made a graphic organizer with the ten remaining words from Chapter 1, Lesson 3. If you were absent the words will be attached below. You also completed a crossword puzzle with all of the vocabulary words from the lessson.

FRENCH 3 - Today in class we took notes on the new vocabulary. If you were not in class today see me ASAP or email and I will get you a copy of my handout. FOR TOMORROW learn the words I had highlighted in green - the high priority words. We will have a vocabulary quiz on Friday. You may still make use of the vocabulary list and the flashcard game from yesterday's post.

FRENCH HONOR SOCIETY

Please take a moment to look at the agenda for this Friday's meeting. I expect everyone to come ready to give ideas and to participate.

• Officers - We currently have a President and a Vice-President. If you are interested in being the Secretary/Treasurer or the Service Hour Manager please let me know.
• Fun activities - we would like to discuss opportunities to go to local French restaurants. Please come with a suggestion for a place and a couple of possible dates.
• Service activities - I know that I have some students who really need help. We need to get a list of members with contact information (that you are willing to post) so that the people who need help can get in touch with you. It would also be a good idea for you to include your general times of availability.
• KSU Competition - In the past Lassiter has had the largest contingent at the KSU event. I would like for that to be the case this year. FYI - this is a great way to get service hours!
• La Petite Société - Mme Israel at Mabry is interested in having a junior version of the Honor Society. I need a few people who are willing to go to Mabry to work with the 8th graders. This is a great way to make French more visible and another great way to get service hours!

Because our meeting starts so early (7:30 a.m.) it would be nice for a couple of people to bring in some snacks. Please email me if you are willing to bring in something.

FRENCH 3 - There is no written homework for tonight. If you are struggling and want to get ahead I am attaching the vocabulary list that we will start working with tomorrow. I urge you to look at it and start working on learning the terms.

FRENCH 3 - Today in class we talked about a photo; I handed back the quiz from Tuesday; we went over the correct answers for Tuesday's quiz; I took a grade for homework (activities 6 & F in the packet); and I explained the extra credit activity (activity G in the packet). THERE IS A MAJOR QUIZ ON MONDAY, SEPT. 26.

Explanation for Activity G (#1):

The subject of the sentence is Nous ("Mes trois amis et moi" isn't all that important so you don't have to write that down). The verb is "vouloir". You have to figure out if vouloir is a MRS DR VANDERTRAMP verb or not. If it is, your helping verb is "être". If it's not your helping verb is "avoir". "Vouloir" is not a MRS DR VANDERTRAMP so the helping verb is avoir. The conjugation for "nous" is "avons". The past participle for the verb "vouloir" is "voulu". Your final sentence should look like this:

     Nous avons voulu coucher à la belle étoile.

If the verb IS a MRS DR VANDERTRAMP don't forget to add an "s" to the past participle to make it plural. You do not do this if "avoir" is the helping verb.

IN ORDER TO GET ANY RECOVERY POINTS THIS MUST BE TURNED IN AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR PERIOD OR BEFORE FIRST PERIOD FOR THE ACCELERATED CLASS.

AP FRENCH - Review the errors you made on the reading comprehension. Highlight where the answer can be found in the reading and annotate the number. This is important.

FRENCH 3 - Today in class we worked on answering questions with complete sentences; prepared for tomorrow's quiz; and practiced the passé composé with être. FOR TOMORROW please review activities 3 and 4 from the packet. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL BE NO POINT RECOVERY FOR THIS QUIZ.

FRENCH 3 - Today in class I handed back the quizzes from last Friday; students took the vocabulary quiz on the current vocabulary; and we went over activities 1 & 5 from Wednesday night's homework. The only homework for this weekend is to complete any necessary point recovery for last week's quiz. In order to receive points you must complete in the following format:

• For section 1: copy the entire sentence and highlight the correct answer.
• For section 2: give the correct answer in a complete sentence.
• For section 3 - for the ones you got wrong, write down what the sentence means in English.

For each correct answer at this stage you will receive 1/2 point. Please note that your grade cannot exceed 20 points (which is a high B). Please take advantage of this opportunity. I am not feeling compelled to continue this system because it seems that you (in general) are putting forth very little effort and that I am doing the lion's share of the work. If you don't understand something, come to me and ask for help. The answers to today's quiz were in the activity that has been posted on this blog for four days and fewer than 10% of the students bothered to open the activity and do it. There is no excuse for you getting anything lower than a B on today's quiz.

• Complete activities 2 & 3 in the packet of worksheets
• Turn to the back of the 3rd page in the packet and read that explanation of the passé composé with être.
• Complete activity E on the front of the 4th page of the packet
• In groups of 4 practice reading the conversation paying close attention to pronunciation.
