The Special Guide (www.thespecialguide.com) is an Atlanta-based web site started a few months ago that lets parents of children with special needs or learning challenges search for and share their reviews of Atlanta therapists, doctors, schools, camps and other businesses and service providers. It is like a Yelp, Kudzu, or Angie's List -- only with reviews by and for the special needs community. It has an extensive listing of services, reviews, as well as the ability to post comments on the reviews. Service providers can also add their service to the listings free of charge. The parents who started this site have a child with autism and have poured their savings into this project in order to help other families with special needs. Parents of these kids navigate a complex world of assessment, medical services and therapies. Because the demands time are high, and their resources often limited, The Special Guide serves as a much needed resource.
