Photography

Photography students will present their information on historical photography today and have a test on the historical material on Thursday. Students will be working on composition skills this week and shooting outside during class.

Ceramics

Ceramics A will finish this week on their coil pots. They are looking great. I have encouraged the class to take the pots even taller. We will see who has one larger than 12 inches.

The students will learn how to use the clay gun this week and begin a mold pot. We will then move right into a pinch pot/coil pot combination pot.

We will let the coil pots dry out and then fire them in approximately one week.

Comprehensive Art

We began our value unit at the end of last week. The students will finish Munsell's value chart today and will move on to learning how to shade.
 

Photography

Photography students have viewed a power point on basic composition and have critiqued many photos in class. On Thursday and Friday, the students brought their digital cameras and shot outside around the art room and near areas. I want to see what composition techniques the students know. We will begin the history of photography this week with students working with a partner.

Today, Monday, we have a guest speaker, Kalen Curtis, from SCAD who is also a Lassiter alumni. She was in the art department and graduated from SCAD with a degree in Photography.

Ceramics

Ceramics students are very fortunate this semester to have small classes. This will allow the students more opportunity on the potter's wheels and no lines waiting to use equipment.

The Ceramics A students have made stamps for all to use as well as a personal stamp and now have begun their first project of a coil pot. All seem very excited to work with the clay and I anticipate wonderful work from all students.

The advanced Ceramics students are beginning a take off on a nicho. I have many creative students!

I have two students on the potter's wheels so far and will expand as the semester passes.

We need kitchen trash bags as donations. (Clay projects are stored in bags.)

Comprehensive Art

We are finishing our logos today, Monday and will begin a Line project next. Students were introduced to the new assignment on Friday so they could be thinking of images for the new project. Our first Element of Art, line, will be covered along with the vocabulary word of pattern.

The logos are turning out quite well and the students seem proud of their work. They also have found out how picky I am and that I will make them rework and improve their designs and craftsmanship.

Look for images after the students have completed them. We are displaying all logos in the hallway.

 

Photography

We will have 3 different levels during this class period.

Photography A will begin with basic composition techniques and will shoot with their digital cameras soon.

Photo C will work on a Quote assignment.

AP Photo will begin shooting the Elements of Art.

Ceramics A - Vocabulary will be our first agenda but we will be working with clay by the middle of the week.

Advanced - We will begin planning our projects right away. Our first project will be to create a stamp of your name or a logo.

Comprehensive Art

We are going to cover the Elements of Design and the Principles of Art.

Our first project will be a personal logo. Be thinking of your favorite sport, hobby, or some type of shape you can use. We will discuss the project in class.
