Today we discussed Sylvia Plath's poem "Mushrooms" and used our TPFASTT to spark some discussion about author choices and how the poetic devices support a poem's meaning and an author's purpose. A word photo assignment was also given for homework. The rough draft will be due on Monday.
This document holds the instructions for the word photo and the piece titled "School" as an example. In short, you must journal about moments or pictures in your memory and then choose three mental photos to use for the creation of your word photos. You should focus on showing and not telling the reader what you see and how you feel. Choose your words with purpose to show a specific image to your reader - focus on specific image or piece of the photo to describe. You can only use 75-100 words for each of your final word photos.
For Monday:
You will need to have three copies of your rough draft word photos to share during our peer review session. One copy will be for the teacher, one copy for your peer reviewer and one for you. Do not worry about word count for Monday.
You will need your Literature book in class.
Don't forget about the vocabulary quiz on Monday!
Enjoy your Weekend!
