We're starting the unit that focuses on radical inequalities and equations. Chapter 3 in the book includes many examples of these methods.

HW DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS 1/26/11: the Finding Roots of Polynomials task
Welcome to Mr. Ty Vernon, our student teacher from Mercer University.
Here's a message from Mr. Vernon:
Greetings students and parents! Most of the students know me by now and a couple of the parents do as well, but for those of you who have not met me my name is Ty (Mr.) Vernon and I will be student teaching for the next 12 weeks. As Mrs. Linner stated, I attend Mercer University currently for my Master's Degree and I attended Georgia Tech for my Bachelor's Degree. I'll begin observing and learning from Mrs. Linner and eventually teach all of the classes for 3-5 weeks and put together a unit on conic sections. I very much looking forward to working with the students and I've greatly enjoyed my 4 days here thus far!
-Mr. Vernon

The test has been scheduled for Monday, February 14th. Topics on the test include solving equations with polynomials, radical expressions, and absolute values, and solving related inequalities.
You now have a bunch of practice problems covering these topics. If you did not pick up your "Finding Roots of Higher Order Polynomials" task today, please pick it up tomorrow. Solutions are posted outsided my door.
The problems assigned today come from the Note-taking guide, lesson 3.4. If you missed class today, please work the two pages of practice problems in the NTG to keep up with the class.
