Monday - Continue contructing the unit circle with degrees and learning the ordered pairs associated with each angle measurement. We also learned what coterminal angles are. The assignment is to complete the designated problems on worksheet #1 on the Unit circle and all problems on W.S. #2 on the unit circle.

Tuesday - Today we graphed quadratics when they were in vertex, intercept and standard form. Then we discuss intervals of increasing and decreasing along with identifying the vertex and equation of the axis of symmetery. The assignment is p. 65: 1 - 6 odd, 13 - 33 eoo; p. 72: 1 - 17 odd, p. 59: 35 -41 all.
Wednesday - Review for Thursday's Test. Students will work more of the equations from the solving quadratic equations worksheet (even problems) and page 61: 34 - 39 all, Page 66: 38 - 40 all, and page 68: 39 - 41 all.

Thursday - Section 3.7 Solving Quadratics by completing the square. The assignment is page 88: 1 - 25 odd.
Friday - Students reviewed all techniques of solving quadratics. The assignment was a worksheet all odd problems were assigned.

Accelerated Math I
Monday - We continued solving quadratic equations. The method used today is by factoring Section 2.6. The assignment was page 83: 10 - 29 all.
Tuesday - On today students discovered how to solve quadratic equations by finding square roots. The assignment was page121: 2 - 26 even. Students were encouraged to work the odd problems if they needed extra practice.
Wednesday - 2nd period most of the students participated in the school event so the Math 2 Books were issued to those students present in both 2nd and 3rd period and student were given time to catch up on assignments.
Thursday - Students will began to explore the world of complex numbers. We will began to simplify, add, and subtract , complex numbers. The assignment is from Math 2 Book page 4: 1 - 15 odd, 17 - 39 odd. page 8: 1- 5all, 7, 13, 17, 21, 27.
Friday - Students will explore multiplying and dividing of complex numbers. Students will be introduced to the term "conjugate". They will be able to find conjugates of binomials and monomials and use them to simplify fractions with a complex number as the denominator. The assignment is page 13: 1 - 39 odd. Next Tuesday, March 24th, students will take a quiz over complex numbers.
Honors Algebra II- Monday - Today we discussed graphing Hyperbolas in standard form with their center at the origin and translated. The assignment was Pg. 602: 7-45 odd, 46 - 50 all. Students did not receive their quizzes back but they were given their grades. All quizzes that were taken haven been graded and entered in to Pinnacle.
Tuesday - We will continue working with Hyperbolas. Students will received a worksheet for Parabolas and Ellipses and one on Hyperbolas.

Thursday - 9.6: We will discuss the Intersections of Conic Sections. The assignment is page 611: 9 - 45 odd.

Tuesday - I decided to wait until Thursday to give the test so we worked on solving word problems and symplifying complex rational expressions in class. The assignment was a worksheet containing word problems that are solved by writing rational equations and symplifying complex fractions.
Wednesday - We continured to review the complex fractions and rational equations in preparation for the test tomorrow, Thursday March 12, 2009.
Thursday - Test over Rational equations.
Friday We began solving quadratics by graphing Section 2.12. The assignment was page 114: 1 - 37 odd.

Monday -We investigated Section 9.2 on the parabola and its formulas in non and translated form. The assignment was page 576: 9 - 47 odd
Tuesday - We continued with the lesson on parabolas. Because it is a Early release day we continued to work the problems on page 576 now including 48 - 53 all.
Wednesday - We will study Section 9.3 on Circles. Because this is a familiar topic from Geometry we should be able to cover this one in one day. The assignment is page 583: 9-51eoo, 53 - 75 odd, 76 -82 all.
Thursday - We will investigate the ellipse. Now that we have been working with the conics awhile the students should adapt easily to the structure of the lesson. The assignment is page 592: 21 - 57 odd, 58 - 64 all.
Friday - Quiz over Distance, Midpoints, Parabolas, and Circles (Sections 9.1 - 9.3). Homework will be a worksheet on Parabolas and Ellipses.
Accelerated Math I
Monday- Section 3.9 Multiplying and Dividing of Rational expressions. The assignment was page 167: 1 - 19 all.
Tuesday - Section 3.10 We began investigating how to add and subtract rational expressions with like denominators. Students quickly adapted to this concept but as we continued to discuss how to handle unlike denominators we quickly saw that finding least common multiples (LCM) some problems surfaced. Because today is an Early Release Day we stopped with finding (LCM). The assignment is page 173: 1 - 12 all.
Wednesday - We continued investigating how to add and subtract rational expressions with unlike denominators. After working a few examples student then began to work on the homework. The assignment is page 173: 13 - 23 all.
Thursday - We learned how to solve rational equations. The assignment was page 178:1 - 17 odd.
Friday - Students thought that solving rational equations was easy. A few are still having trouble finding the lowest common denominator for the equation. In preparation for our test next Tuesday, March 10th, over 3.8 - 3.9, we spent the class time reviewing all concepts in 3.8 - 3.11 working in groups. The assignment is p. 164: 1, 3, 7, 12; p. 168: 2, 5, 8, 10; p. 174: 3, 8, 12, 16; and p. 179: 2, 6, 9, 15.
