Part II. In paragraph form, answer or respond to the assigned question/topic on South Africa.
A. Evaluate the human effect of the South African system of Apartheid. (Use examples from Kaffir Boy, Civil Peace, and Cry Freedom.)
B. Evaluate the significance of Jared Diamond’s thesis from Guns, Germs, and Steel in the context of South African apartheid. (Use examples from GGS, the timeline of Apartheid, and at least one of the works listed above.)
C. Evaluate the ideas, words, and life of Nelson Mandela in the context of South Africa Apartheid. (uses examples from Mandela’s speech, “No Easy Walk to Freedom”, and his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech.)
Part III. In paragraph form, answer or respond to the assigned question/topic on Rwanda or Nigeria.
A. Explain the underlying/causal effect of tribal conflict and colonial rule on the Rwandan Genocide. ( Use examples from the historical timeline the film Hotel Rwanda, and GGS.

B. How have fairy tales historically addressed issues central to both adults and children?
C. Using archetypical symbols and characters explain why Big Fish or Horton Hears a Who are classic fairy tales
D. Contrast the older “classical” fairy tales to modern Disney versions.
