German III,IV 2/22 - 2/26

2/22 - students are discussing and learning about the environment. They larning new vocabulary about the topic. How is Germany and America different in recycling, cleaning up rives, lakes etc.

2/23 - students watch a movie about our history unit.  "Die weisse Rose"  is a movie about the anti-nazi propaganda leaflets distributed at the Munich University by a student group.

2/24 - talking about a project showing what every students would do to help the environment. Learned and discussed more vocabulary from "zweite Stufe" in the chapter.  There will be a quiz on vocab tomorrow.

2/25 - students will take quiz on vocab from zweite stufe and then discuss more vocabulary.  students need to think about a project of how to better our environment. What can we do to help.

2/26 - students will have the last quiz from this chapter vocab list. We worked within the topic.

German II 2/22-2/26

2/22 - students will have to perform the skid from "Die drei Gruff Ziegen"

2/23 - students are watching the Fairy Tale "Jacob und der Bohnenstock"

2/24 - students will learn vocabulary for the fairy tale.  Students had the lap tops today.  Each student had to find an intersting Grimm's brothers fairy tale and as we have some time everyday we have story time in class.  We also will finish the movie sometime this week and then read the story for contrast and comparison.

2/25 - Students were given the vocabulary list for another version of the Fairy tale, watched a little more of the movie.

2/26 - Students had to work in groups and translate a paragraph of the story, they could use the vocab list form yesterday to help with translation.  Finished the movie.

German I 2/22 - 2/26

2/22 - students had  a quiz on all time elements (year, months, weeks, days, hours, etc) it was mostly translation and fill in the blanks. 

2/23- students watched a Fairy Tale because I was out of school for the day.

2/24 - students will continue to learn how to tell time with the 24 hour system(military time). we also learned to express time for half past, quarter after and quarter of... Students were working in a paket. if this was not done in class it needs to be finished up to pape 95.  we will continue with this tomorrow and practice.

2/25 - students will continue to learn how to tell time.  We are going to have daily practice.

2/26 - Students will continue to learn how to tell time and will have daily practice sessions and quizzes.

Accounting 2/22-2/26

Accounting I   Payroll Accounting

2/22 - students were taking a chapter test and will finish the test on Wednesday.

2/23 -  Students were learning the key vocabulary for the new chapter on payroll accounting. 

2/24 - students finished the chapter test on Banking activities.

2/25 - students are working in the first part of the new chapter and the first problem.

2/26 - students are working on problems in the chapter

BCS-PAI-10. Students will apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to various forms of ownership and payroll.

a. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of the three forms of business ownership—sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations.

b. Prepare and maintain payroll records using manual and computerized systems.

c. Calculate earnings at an hourly and piece rate and on a salary, commission, and salary/commission basis.

d. Compute employee gross earnings, deductions, and withholdings to determine net pay.

e. Calculate employer’s payroll taxes including Social Security, Medicare, federal unemployment, state unemployment, other taxes, and other employee benefits paid by the employer.

Accounting II  Analyzing Statements

2/22 - students were taking a chapter test on Stock distributions and will finish the test on Wednesday.

2/23 - students were learning the key vocabulary for the new chapter on analyzing statements.

2/24 - students finished the chapter test on Stock distributions. 

2/25 - students are working in the first part of the new chapter and answer questions

2/26 - students continue to work in Chapter 12, analyzing statements.

BCS-PAII-6. Students will create, interpret, and analyze end-of-fiscal-period activities and financial statements.

a. Create financial statements for partnerships.

b. Evaluate financial statements using horizontal analysis, vertical analysis, and commonly used financial ratios.

c. Generate all necessary year-end journal entries.

d. Use software to evaluate the effect of changes in operating procedures, accounting methods, and estimates on the financial statements and ratios.

German III,IV through 2/19/10

Unit: Environment

Students are learning and discussing what we are doing for the environment and compare and constrast with Germany and Europe in general.  We are going to have several quizzes and eventually are working on a project.

2/19/10  quiz on vocabulary for "Environment",  looked at German articles for explanations of why Gemany has a big problem with forests dying, dirty water in rivers and lakes, etc.

 

German II through 2/19/10

Unit: Fairytales

student will learn the one-word-past-tense because Fairytales are written in this particular past tense.

Grimms Fairytales are the most wellknown stories in Germany and we will cover several of those stories.  we will also go on the internet and find unusual stories also written by the Grimms Brothers.

2/18/10   students had a quiz on the nouns for the story of "Drei Gruff Ziegen"

   students are working on the play for Monday. Everybody had chosen a part to perform and

   study for Monday.

2/19/10  students listened to the story of "Drei Gruff Ziegen"  and practiced for their skid on Monday.

 

German I through 2/19/10

Unit:  Time

Students will learn how tio tell time in German. This will also require review of numbers.  German time is the 24 hour system (you call it military time).  We are also dividing a year into seasons, months, days, minutes etc.

2/18/10   students are working with vocabulary that has all time elements (year, months, seasons, days, weeks, hours, minutes, seconds etc)

2/19/10   students learned how to tell time. Germany uses the 24 hour system(military time).

  Students had practice how to tell time.

   students will have a quiz on all time elements(there is a worksheet, given onWednesday.  The worksheet takes a year and shows all smaller alements like seasons(names), months(names), days(names), part of a day(names), how many days per year, months, hours in a day, minutes in an hour, seconds in a minute, etc. 

Accounting through 2/19/10

Accounting I:

students are working in Chapter 11 and are learning everything about Bank activities, checkbooks and how to balance the bank account.  They will have the chapter test  on Monday Febr. 22

h. Discuss the three basic types of business activities – operating, investing and financing.

i. Generate statements of cash flow using the direct and indirect methods.

j. Use manual and computerized accounting systems for preparing financial statements

2/18/10  students were working on a Bank reconciliation (Probl. 11/5)

2/19/10  students had another problem showing how to reconcile a bank statement.  they have another practice problem for the weekend. students will get additional points on the Chapter Test on Monday if they finished the problem before the test.

Accounting II:

students are working in Chapter 10 and are learning what kind of Stocks there are, dividends, transactions, stocksplits, procedures.  They will have the chapter test on Monday Febr. 22

a. Explain the purpose of the following capital accounts for a corporation: common stock, preferred stock, paid-in capital, retained earnings, and dividends.

b. Analyze and record investments by stockholders and the declaration and payment of dividends for a corporation.

c. Differentiate between stockholders’ equity and retained earnings.

d. Use manual and computerized accounting systems for stockholders’ equity.

2/18/10  students were working on recording stocks with a premium  (Probl. 9/6)

2/19/10  students finished another problem that will help them studying for the Test on Monday.  Students were told what they are responsible for on the test.

German III,IV

Students finished the unit on "Haus and living". They had several projects and presentations.

Topic: "Aktiv fur die Umwelt"  will be our new unit.  We will be starting with this new unit on Monday.

We will start this unit comparing Germany to the USA with our recycling and caring about our country and world. How do we think differently?

German II

Topic:  AATG National German Exams

students are practicing with national German exams.  these are previous tests that I bought so we can practice.  Tests consist of listening parts, comprehension parts and grammer parts. 

We will be working with these test for the coming week.

Students finished the "Haus" topic and had several presentations/projects on that topic.
