German I,II,III,IV and Accounting

German III,IV

Students have been working with the Rosetta STone material about three times a week.

There grades look very good and they seem to enjoy the program.

We have also been working on a time line of German History and plan to finalize the time line in the next few days.

The final exam for the students is going to be a Rosetta Stone unit, since they are familiar with the program.

German II

Students have been working on the "Living" unit.  Students are learning how to express where they prefer to live.  Students will tell me if the like to live in a big city or a smaller town/in the country.

Students have the vocabulary to express preferences and give reasons.

Students are learning comparatives , these are the same words that they learned to give the opposites to.  At the beginning of this unit, students found/ createt their dream house and learned the words for the furnishings and everything in and around the house. We will finish this unit at the end of next week and then begin to review the material for our Final Exam.  Students will know what will be on the Final Exam.  The Foreign language Finals count 15 % of the total grade, so it is very important for them to study the reviewed material.

German I

Students have been working with a large unit that includes everything about food items and meals.

Students have finished their menus. Each student had to create a menu of their choice. They did an excellent job.  We had very nice and creative menus. They had to present some items that their restaurant served.

The second project was a skid. Students went out to a restaurant and had to order food.  The groups were divided to play guests and servers.  They had to order food and while they were waiting had to make small talk.  I think they had a lot of fun with that project.

We are now learning helping verbs (there are 6 in German) and students will learn how to use them correctly.

We still will be working with the food unit for one more week.  The last week before the Final Week we are going to have good review for the Final Exam.

All students will know what to study for the final exam.  Foreign Language Finals will count 15 % of the grade, so it is very important to study the material I will give out to students.

Accounting

Students have finished  audits on three sets of books for three different companies.

Each set had 25 questions and students had to find the answers in the books of the companies.

We have also been working on Chapter 18.  In this chapter we finish a 10 column worksheet, that includes a Trialbalance, Adjustments, Adjusted Trialbalance, Income Statement and Balance Sheet.

We should have our chapter test on Monday.

German III,IV

students are working on a history timeline of Germany.  We are also 2 to 3 times a week in the media Center on line with Rosetta Stone.

German II

Students are learning conversations and vocabulary for wishing someone good health.  Ask someone how they feel, if they are ill how do they express themselves.  How would a doctor ask what's wrong and how would you answer and explain what is wrong.

Students are also working on a project (brochures) for healthy vocation spots and spas to recuperate.

In Germany, the health system pays for a patient to go to a "Kurort" for 6 weeks to get healthy after operations.  Socialized healthcare pays for everything.

German I

Students have  learned bodyparts and had several handouts and activities to learn the bodyparts.

Students will have a test this week and a project due on bodyparts.

Accounting

Chapter 15,

This chapter deals with the purchasing of the Merchandising Business.

Students learn how to record purchases made by the business, they learn how important it is to take a discount and pay merchandise on time.  They already know  the 2/10, net /30 what it means to the business.  Students will have a test on that chapter either on Friday or Monday.

German III, IV

Students are beginning lessons with the Rosetta Stone language program.  Students will be able to use the language program once or twice per week for the rest of the semester.

Students have also started on the German History unit.  Every student in class will have a part of Germany's history and will report to the class.  Students will have to make up assessments for the rest of the class so everybody will learn about Germany's history.

German II

Students are finishing up the unit on health and all related subjects like exercise and healthy foods and living.

The project related to this unit will be a demonstration of a recipe.
