It was great to see and meet all of the parents who attended open house tonight. I hope every parent will fill free to email me at any time to check up on things in our class. I am always glad to meet the family members of the students I teach. Thank you to everyone for the support from home. Lassiter students are such a pleasure to work with every day and I am fortunate to be in such a great place. The students come in with such a strong background in so many of the topics that we explore that we are able to advance rather quickly to some of the more interesting things within those topics which makes it that more enjoyable for me. It is an honor to work with some fine young men and women.

Monday- We have officially begun our new unit on East Asia. Students discussed what they already know about East Asia last week and watched the introductory video on East Asia. Students were surprised to realize that they knew more than they thought they did on East Asia. We will complete a DBQ this unit on the One-Child Policy, create unit maps, complete a vocabulary quiz, read ch. 27-29, compare North and South Korea, and have the opportunity to participate in an extra credit opportunity. The last six weeks of the semester is here so students should strive to make sure they complete all assignments. Students were given time to work on the unit maps and took notes on the Geography of East Asia using the ch. 27 study guide. The unit notes and study guides/reading/notes guides can be found on the right hand side of the blog under East Asia Unit Resources folder. Click here for the Unit Reading and Vocabulary.
