Today, students completed their 4-square activity, and the class discussed globalization on a macro and micro level. Student then read Friedman's "It's a Flat World After All," and students answered questions, based on the article, in complete sentences.

Today, students received a handout/checklist detailing the step by step process of persuasive writing. Students then brainstormed, using a T-chart and discussed writing an effective thesis statement. Students also viewed a PowerPoint on how to write an effective introduction, and they began revising their GHSWT benchmark introductions (due at the beginning of class tomorrow). Today, students discussed their Guns, Germs, and Steel and The Lexus and the Olive Tree reflections. Students then began a 4-square class activity, choosing quotes from the article that were particularly poignant to each student.
