World Literature Thursday 8/30

Today, students continued reading Friedman's "It's a Small World After All" and answering related questions.

American Literature Thursday 8/30

Today, students viewed a PowerPoint presentation on the background of Puritans and their literature.  Students took Cornell notes on the information and summarized the information in 2-3 complete sentences.  To view the PowerPoint presentation, please click on the file below.

World Literature Wednesday 8/29

Today, students completed their 4-square activity, and the class discussed globalization on a macro and micro level.  Student then read Friedman's "It's a Flat World After All," and students answered questions, based on the article, in complete sentences.

American Literature Wednesday 8/29

Today, students received a handout/checklist detailing the step by step process of persuasive writing.  Students then brainstormed, using a T-chart and discussed writing an effective thesis statement.  Students also viewed a PowerPoint on how to write an effective introduction, and they began revising their GHSWT benchmark introductions (due at the beginning of class tomorrow).  Please click on the file below to view the information on the PowerPoint.

Today, students discussed their Guns, Germs, and Steel and The Lexus and the Olive Tree reflections.  Students then began a 4-square class activity, choosing quotes from the article that were particularly poignant to each student.

Today, students completed their EOCT pretest and Cornell Notes on pgs. 4-14 of their textbooks.

World Literature Monday 8/27

Today, students discussed the images of the "Lexus" and the "Olive Tree."  Students then read excerpts from Friedman's The Lexus and the Olive Tree and discussed globalization.  Students then wrote a 2 paragraph (5-7 sentences each) reflection, based on their readings and class discussion.  Please click on the file below to view the images and the writing prompt.
