Today, students finished watching A Passage to India. Students should have their viewing guide questions completed an ready to turn in before the Unit 3 test. Remember that answers must be written in complete sentences.
Today, students read and discussed from Whitman's "Song of Myself" (pg. 428) and "I Hear America Singing" (pg. 434). Students also read a brief mini-bio. of Walt Whitman on pg.422. Students then worked on the "I Hear ________Singing" creative writing assignment.

Today, students worked on their Vocabulary Lesson 8 packet and flashcards. This packet is due on Wednesday 1/25. Flashcards will be due on the day of the quiz (TBD).
Today, students worked in the Media Center, finding sources to support their topics and completing annotations for their sources. Source annotations are due at the beginning of class on Monday 1/23.
Today, students discussed the research paper rubric in class. Mrs. Crandall answered any questions that the students had, and students shared their topics with the class. For the rest of the class, Mrs. Crandall took the time to review the film questions that any student may not have understood, and students were assigned their annotation assignments to go along with their research papers.
Today, students continued working on their "Self Reliance"/"Civil Disobedience" quote sheets. This assignment is due at the beginning of class on Tuesday 1/24.
Today, students met in the media to listen to a presentation, given by the Media Center Specialists, on finding credible sources for their research papers. Students then used a topic template to come up with a topic of their choice, and students used the rest of class to find valuable resources to support their research paper topics.
Today, students read and discussed an excerpts from Emerson's "Self Reliance" as a class. Students also began working on a quotes sheet, connecting Thoreau's "Civil Disobedience" and Emerson's "Self Reliance" to the core beliefs of Transcendentalism and citing the quotes in proper MLA format. Students will be given time in class tomorrow to complete the assignment.
