Welcome parents and students! I am so excited to be working with you this semester! The blog is a great tool thelp students stay on the right academic track. Please check this blog regularly for any updates. My American Lit. classes are currently studying Transcendentalism. Ninth Lit/Comp is studying poetry. If you noteice any missing work, please feel free to communicate with me, and I will work with the student to get him/her caught up. I will be posting assignments regularly on the blog, so students can check to see what they missed when they were absent. American Lit Monday 3/30
Today we read "The Notorious Jumping Frod of Calaveras County" (pg 569). We discussed Regionalism and dialect. Students created their own short stories from a quote in the story using the Regionalist model.

Ninth Lit/Comp Monday 3/30
Today we worked in the media center. We practiced at usatestprep.com for the End of Course Test. This is worth 15 percent of the student's overall grade. Students may further practice at home. They have receieved the required codes and passwords in class. Students MUST bring their books to class tomorrow.

American Lit Wednesday 3/25
Students finished watching A Raisin in the Sun. Please get a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast, and come prepared for the last day of your GHSGT.
Ninth Lit/Comp Wednesday 3/25
Today we discussed Odysseus and the Epic Hero. Each student decided whether he/she believed that Odysseus was an epic hero. Then, they filled out a statement guide, providing textual support for each statement in MLA format.

American Lit. 3/18-3/23
While I was out sick, students turned in vocabulary lesson number twelve. Students watched the film: To Catch a Fire. Students practices for the GHSGT. Juniors will be taking the Georgia High School Graduation Test 3/23-3/26.
Ninth Lit/Comp 3/18-3/23
While I was out sick, students completed the Probable Passage handout. They also completed part one of the Odyssey pgs. 981-1017. They should have completed the review and assess questions in complete sentences and turned them in. Students turned in vocabulary packet number eleven. Students also completed and turned in the first three postcards from the Odyssey : "Sailing from Troy" "The Lotus Eaters" and "Cyclops". Students are to be working on the next four postcards which are due Friday 3/27: "The Land of the Dead", "The Sirens", "Scylla and Charybdis", and "The Cattle of the Sun God".
Reminders: All Postcards for part one of the Odyssey are due Friday 3/27.

Today we took the vocabulary 11 quiz. Students are to turn in vocabulary packet 12 on Thursday.

Today we took a quiz over vocablary lesson 10. Students must complete vocabulary packet 11 which is due on Thursday. By now, students should have read "Sailing from Troy", "The Lotus Eaters", and "The Cyclops" in from the Odyssey pg. 986 in literature book. Post cards for the first two stories are due on Friday 3/20.
