This Week: The final week of class! We will watch the film version of Edson's Wit and then, to lighten the mood (finally, after 35 weeks of "Death Lit"), we will watch a comedy. Be sure to turn in your DiYanni text by Friday and submit your senior will to lhspress@gmail.com by Tuesday. The final exam for 1st and 2nd period is Friday.

In addition to AP multiple choice practice, be prepared to write two in-class essays--I will score them holistically according to the AP rubric and we will discuss what to consider in order to achieve the best score possible. Also, we will finish reading and analyzing Wit.

It is a powerful contemporary play that will segue well into metaphysical poetry and themes. On Tuesday, your independent novel literary analysis essay is due.

In addition, you will write an in-class essay and turn in a plot summary for your independent novel on Friday. With three weeks remaining before the AP exam, focus on honing your strengths and improving your weakest areas. We will complete several AP multiple choice practice tests (both poetry and prose) as well as write, score, and reflect on all three forms of AP lit essays.

This Week: Poetry analysis presentations extend through the week so be prepared to teach your assigned literary device well and have your poem ready for close reading, analysis, and in-depth discussion. Please bring your Diyanni text all week. As for the research paper, your introductory paragraphs are due Monday. I will review them and provide feedback to ensure your paper gets off to a promising and coherent start. As a result of my absence on Monday, I am willing to extend the deadline of the research paper to Wednesday, March 18th. This will ensure that I have time to adequately conference with all who need it. Don't hesitate at any point this week to consult with me or have me go over your working draft with you.

This Week: All reasearch for your paper should be completed by Friday, 3/6. I will collect the article summaries for your four database sources on Tuesday, 3/3 and I will collect your print source summary on Friday, 3/6. Be sure each summary is 200-300 of your own words, and be sure you provide a proper MLA citation for each article. These sources should serve to support your thesis. Be advised that you will incorporate at least one quote from each source in your paper! In addition to your research you will be working in class with your partner on your poetry analysis project and presentation.
