Week of 10/25

Monday-We will work on the 3rd type of AP exam question, the rhetorical analysis.  You will need your BEST AMERICAN ESSAYS book the rest of the week.  Bring it to class.  Don't forget to find a copy of ANGELA'S ASHES by Frank McCourt and start reading.  Finish reading by 11/15.

Tuesday-We'll finish our discussion of Gary Soto's piece and then I will assign you to an essay in BEST AMERICAN ESSAYS.  Re-read the entire essay first.  Then you will work with a group to annotate it and prepare to discuss it with the class.

Wed.-Begin discussions.

Thurs.-continue

Friday-Vocab. # 9.  You will have a paper test today, so you will write the definition and a sentence only.  That means each is worth 16 points, so don't miss one!

Are you reading ANGELA'S ASHES.  You should be well underway by now!

Friday-Vocab. quiz #8

You need to find a copy of ANGELA'S ASHES by Frank McCourt.  It is his memoir of growing up in Ireland in extreme poverty.  It is sad/ poignant/funny/disgusting/and more!  I think you'll like it.  I'll give you three weeks to read it.
