Fifth Third Bank & 680theFan Scholarship

Wow! Each week a high school student's application will be drawn to win a $1680 scholarship thru the football season (August 29 - December 12). At the end of the 16 weeks, one of the weekly winners will then be qualified to win the grand prize scholarship of $5,300 on behalf of Fifth Third Bank.  Students 16 years or older can apply by downloading an application at www.680theFan.com or pick up an application at Fifth Third Bank.  Applications must be turned into the bank.

FUTURES at Georgia Tech

Each year the Georgia Tech Admissions Office sponsors a day long open-house to designated sophomore and junior women to introduce: a world-renowned academic program, a wide range of extracurricular opportunities and Study Abroad experiences.  Lassiter may nominate six outstanding women to attend the FUTURES program scheduled for Friday - November 18th. Sophomore and Junior women with an "A" or high "B" average should see their school counselor by October 7th to be nominated.

ELKS - Most Valuable Student Scholarship

The Elks - Most Valuable Student Scholarship awards over $2,000,000.00 in scholarships! Based on leadership, work experience, scholarship, citizenship and need, seniors are encouraged to apply.  Applications are located at http://www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm. Applications should be mailed to: Greg Shelby, 5871 Edenfield Court, Acworth, GA 30101 by December 2, 2011

NASSP/Herff Jones Principal's Leadership Award

NASSP and Herff Jones sponsor the Principal's Award which ranges from $1,000 to $12,000. Lassiter may nominate one senior on the basis of leadership skills, participation in service organizations and clubs, achievement in the arts and sciences, employment experience and academic record.  To be nominated for this award, see your school counselor with your student profile by October 7th.

 

University of Georgia Deadlines!

Reminder - the deadline for the Early Action Application is October 15th.  Regular Decison Application deadline is January 15, 2012.  Seniors applying for the Foundation Fellowship and Bernard Ramsey Honors Scholarship must meet the new deadline application of November 1st. Seniors need to submit a transcript/recommendation request to the School Counselor Office at least 10 days in advance of these deadlines.

Jefferson Scholars Foundation - University of Virginia

Jefferson Scholarships are full scholarships granted to students based on merit alone.  The Foundation seeks to find high school seniors who possess exceptional ability in leadership and scholarship and who show promise of making a significant contribution to the community and to society. Lassiter may nominate one student to apply.  To be nominated as the Lassiter applicant, see your school counselor by September 30th.

Georgia Tech - Engineering Career Conference

Nominations, to attend the 12th Annual Engineering Career Conference at Georgia Tech, have been extended to Friday - September 23rd.  Freshmen, sophomore, junior or senior girls interested in exploring engineering majors and careers should see their school counselor to be nominated by September 21st.

AES Scholarship

AES Engineering offers a scholarship to help student further their education.  To apply for this scholarship, students must submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words in answer to this question: "What impact will the Natural Disasters of 2010/2011 have on the global economy? How should these events affect future political, business and personal decisions?"  Submit essay by October 7th to scholarships@aesengineers.com

Ithaca College - Park Scholar Award

The Park Scholar Award covers the full cost of attendance, living expenses, books and the one time computer purchase of $2,500. Lassiter may nominate one student to apply for the award.  See your school counselor by September 30th to be nominated.

 

 

Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program recognizes a senior for their commitment to community service, academics and demonstrated leadership.  Recipients are awarded a one time $1,000 grant. Lassiter may nominate one student to apply for the scholarship. Seniors should see their school counselor by September 23rd to be nominated.

College Fair at Turner Chapel A.M.E.

The Turner Chapel A.M.E Education Ministry will hold a college fair on October 22nd from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Over 50 schools will be in attendance as well as an entire area devoted to resources for scholarships, summer internships, application assistance, essay writing and other fundamentals on the college planning process.

Mercer University - School of Engineering

A Scholarship Challenge is being held on Saturday, October 8th.  Scholarships will be awarded to seniors who are interested in engineering or technical communication. To be nominated to attend the Scholarship Challenge, seniors should see their school counselor.

College Tour Program

The Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sponsors this College Tour Program.  The program includes 5 college prep workshops, workbooks, and a tour of 8 Florida and Louisiana colleges and universities.  The fee is $375.00.  Applications can be found at www.SMLACDST.org and are due by October 10th.
