Scholarships

Indian American Scholarship Fund

Seniors of Indian descent (at least one grandparent born in India) are eligible for the Indian American Scholarship. Last year the organization awarded scholarships totaling over $40,000! Applications are due APRIL 1st!  Log onto www.iasf.org for the application.

Lassiter PTSA Scholarships

WOW! Five $1,000 scholarships and two $750 scholarships will be awarded by the Lassiter PTSA! Applications are available to 2010-2011 PTSA members on the Lassiter website at http://www.lhsptsa.com/LHS_PTSA/Home.html Seniors are welcome to joint PTSA by including $10 with the application.  Applications are due April 15th in the Front Office.

 

Scales of Justice Scholarship - Atlanta Bar Association

Fried Rogers Goldberg, LLC sponsors the Scales of Justice Scholarship.  Students are asked to write an original and creative essay of 1,000 words or less in response to the following quesiton: Why is the right to a trial by jury important to our system of justice? Typed entries must include: student's name, address, telephone number and school at the top of the paper and be submitted via e-mail to scholarship@frg-law.com by April 15, 2011.

Pi Kappa Alpha at Georgia Tech

A $500 scholarship is available to a young man who enters Georgia Tech in the Fall of 2011. The scholarship is awarded to the student who exemplifies the qualities of the fraternity: high ideals in leadership, athletics, and in academics.  Applications are available online at www.gtpike.com and are due August 1, 2011

Summer Programs

21st CENTURY LEADERS

21st CENTURY LEADERS program is offered to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from June 12th to June 17th at Berry College.  The program is free! It offers students the opportunity to learn leadership skills in hands-on workshops, meet young leaders across the state of Georgia, and soar to new heights in low and high ropes courses. Applications are available at www.21centurleaders.org and are due April 1st.  Applicants will be notified of acceptance no later than April 29th.

Irish Life Experience

The Irish Life Experience offers a 25-day high school cultural and academic program for students.  The program consists of an assortment of classes, workshops, and tours throughout Ireland.  In honor of St. Patrick's Day Season, a $500 - $1,000 scholarship is offered to help defray the costs.  Log onto www.IrishLifeExperience.com for more information and an application.

 

Prom

Prom Dress Fundraiser

Prom dresses & accessories are for sale from a collection of previously gently worn merchandise.  This fundraiser will support the Cobb Alcohol Taskforce's efforts to secure non-profit status.  Dresses are priced from $25 to $100. All sales are cash only and final.  The sale will be held from March 16th - 19th - Wednesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 797 Roswell Street - Roswell, Marietta 30060. Leadership Development - Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity

A workshop for rising sophomores, juniors and seniors will be held on Saturday - April 12th from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Carl & Mary Ware Academic Center on the Clark Atlanta University campus.  The workshop is FREE.  Registration at Jfunny@thegricegroup.com

Georgia's statewide youth leadership porgram is for students in grades 10 - 12 who are interested in the Latino culture.  Students who demonstrate leadership capabilites and a commitment to service their home communities can register at www.fanning.uga.edu/work/sinlimites.html

 

Si Se Puede! Youth Leadership Conference

Students for Latina/o Empowerment, a student advocacy organization at the University of Georgia invite students to apply and participate in the annual Si Se Puede! Youth Leadership Conference on March 26th.  Applications are available via e-mail at sle.youth.conference@gmail.com and are due March 11th.

Scholarships

Cobb School Counselor - Service Scholarship

A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a Cobb County senior who has served as a peer helper, peer tutor, peer mediator or some type of service work.  Seniors must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.  Applications are available in the School Counseling Office and must be postmarked by April 12th.

Cobb School Counselor - Son/Daughter Scholarship

A $500 scholarship will be awarded to the son or daughter of a Cobb County counselor who is a member of the Cobb School Counselor Association.  Seniors must complete an essay and an application.  Applications are available in the School counseling Office and must be postmarked by April 12th.

Marietta Kiwanis Club Scholarships

The Marietta Kiwanis Club offers a variety of scholarships for students.  The deadline for scholarships is March 30th.  Log onto www.mariettakiwanis.org and click on the scholarship link.

CEISMC at Georgia Tech

Cobb Youth Leadership
