January 17th – January 20th:
We will be finishing our professions vocabulary and students will have a quiz on this next week. Students will be doing group activities to play a professions game and will be practicing speaking, writing and listening with this. The Present Perfect tense will be studied and explained and activities will be completed which incorporate our vocabulary and grammar this week. We will read a current event article together and continue with our Telenovela.
Classwork:
Monday: No school.
Tuesday: Students talked about their activities this weekend. We completed the last professions clue from last week and we went through how to write our own clues. We completed our professions vocabulary list with definitions in Spanish. Students worked in their groups to give ‘pistas’ (clues) on various professions in preparation for tomorrow’s activity. Students completed a gap-fill worksheet individually (nos.1-20) and we went through the answers together.
Wednesday: Students unscrambled the letters to make some words. In groups students had pieces of cut out paper. They made sentences using a variety of verbs in the present perfect tense. We went through these together and the rules of formation were elicited. Some groups read their clues from yesterday to the class and we guessed the profession in teams with the white boards.
Thursday: We reviewed the present prefect tense with matching on the board and singing and then began our packet on this tense. We completed the first 3 pages of this and did some oral practice. We finished off our clue game from yesterday.
Friday: We completed up to number 35 of the gap-fill sheet on professions and then continued watching our soap opera as usual.
