After burning some gas bubbles (!) we started with the Equilibrium unit in earnest today.  Actually, we started with a little review of the thermodynamics unit, since that's coming back up with equilibrium.

I assigned reading of 17.3 for homework tonight, but I'm retracting the 3 problems also assigned.  You'll be better prepared for those next week.   My apologies.

I'm back after being out on Thursday and Friday.  Ms. Malte did a great job keeping up with the plans I left for her. 

Last Thursday, students viewed the next video segment www.gpb.org/chemistry-physics/chemistry/1102 and completed the notes organizer and worksheets found at this same web address.

Friday, students completed the Acid/Base neutralization worksheet and work from the textbook (see agenda posted above).

I went over the worksheets today.  The textbook work answers are all found in the back of the book.  Students should review their work and make sure you can match the answers.  This textbook work is just like the work on the pH calculations worksheet I went over in class today.

The acid base indocator lab is due tomorrow.  I reviewed it a little more in class today.

The acid/base test will be Friday.

With the subtitute teacher, students reviewed enthalpy calculations, took an enthalpy calculations quiz, and learned about collision theory (17.1) from a powerpoint Download Reaction Rates and Equilibrium, which I presented the rest of today.

Rx rate labs were due today.

Today's discussion was about chemical equilibrium and leChatellier's Principle.  All this can be found in the textbook, chapter 17.2 & 17.3.

Complete the ws for homework.

Chemical equilibrium and enthalpy test Friday.

Tuesday

CHEMISTRY

I was out yesterday.  With the substitute teacher, students viewed the video at the following address.

Students completed the guided notes that goes along with this video, as well as the linked worksheet (on site) and an acid naming worksheet, all of which we went over in class today.

Then students completed guided notes to new information: Download Acids and Bases Notes

REMINDERS:

• Book Projects are due tomorrow.
• Wear close-toed shoes for a lab tomorrow.


HONORS CHEMISTRY

Students received the April calendar yesterday.

Yesterday, students took notes on a video about enthalpy, and read Ch 10.3 and did practice problems from the textbook.

Today I reviewed the problems and reviewed and explained enthalpy and Hess's law.

HW: Download Hess' Law Problems due Thursday. 

Lab tomorrow.  Read and underline places to record in procedure.
