I was trying to figure out how Javier could have gotten 1%.  I went back to the breakfast menu and got all 27 choices to add up to 100%.  So I used the same idea and got all of Javier's tree to add up to 100% as well.  The computations are contained in two spreadsheets in the Excel file linked above.

Math 2 Unit Test Prep

Thursday we will have the second and the last test for Unit 1.  If a student can score higher on this test than the first then this score will replace that score.

I will be in my room Wednesday and Thursday morning as well as Wednesday afternoon. 

The latest entry in Pinnacle (the gradebook) is for a Formative evaluation we took in class today.  This score will not be used in calculating the grade in the class.  It is just a practice test that we will look at closely Wednesday as we prepare for Thursday.  Here is a copy of the 22 item practice test: Download IRespond Review for Great Quadratics Unit Test 2 the answers are at the end.

Math 2

Today I returned yesterday's quiz.  In general the grades were good.  If yours were not please come to see me before Tuesday's test.  This is the last test for this first unit.

Today we worked on the quadratic formula a little and then found the vertex form of a quadratic function by completing the square.  I thought it was thrilling.  Here is a copy of the worksheet that we did in class:Download Math 2 Quadratic Formula and three forms of a Quadratic Function

AMDM College Results Online

Today in AMDM we talked about graduation rates as a way to compare colleges.

College results online collects information about graduation rates, costs to attend, demographic make-up of the student body and percentage of applicants who are accepted.

If you are looking for a bargain consider Georgia Perimeter College or Georgia Highlands College for the first two years.  All credits earned at these two year colleges are 100% transferable to UGA, KSU or GSU.

Math 2 Notes about Quadratic Inequalities

We are running about a day behind the published calendar.  We will have a quiz next week and then test should still be one week from Tuesday on 9/27/11.

Math 2 and the iRespond

Today we worked with the iRespond units on a practice quiz from the page 65 homework assignment.  It is important for us to work with this device because we will use it for Benchmark tests later on this year.

AMDM Presentations start Thursday

The Check digit presentations will begin Thursday.  This is our third major grade in AMDM.

Also make sure you have completed items 1-7 on SAS 12 or SAS 13 I will grade these Thursday night. 

I will also grade SAS 1 (Venn diagram) from Unit II Thursday. 

Unit II is about probability and this unit will have less presentations and more conventional assessments.

Math 2 Finish up the graphing task and the right homework assignment

Today we finished the second part of the graphing quadratics task.  The purpose of this assignment is to give some geometric idea to the meaning of the discriminant.  So if the discriminant is negative the parabola will not intersect the x-axis.

Yesterday I gave the wrong homework assignment so here is the correct one: page 65 #1-12.  We will have the Irespond open notes quiz at the beginning of class Thursday.
