4th week

9th - revisions due Monday (both versions turned in); we will keep reading approximately 20 pages per night.  Chapters 5-8 due for Monday.

10th - Vocab week - Chapters 7/8/9.  Test on Friday, including cumulative 1-9.  Test on Book Three on following Monday.

Film - Finish Slumdog and then start Romance.

3rd week

9th - Poetry Portfolio due on Monday.  You should have five poems typed (haiku, favorite place, limerick, uncacceptable, and terms) in any order.  (Terms can be handwritten.)  You also need your poetry analysis.  Include your poem.  I know that it's difficult to do, so I will be generous.  This week, we will work on "The Most Dangerous Game" and the essay that will teach you how to write an essay.

10th - Test on Book Two on Wednesday.  Possible questions on The Last Samurai.

Film - Finish "Movies Made Madly" by watching watching MEMENTO and DONNIE DARKO.  I will also consider VANTAGE POINT.

2nd week

9th - POETRY! Due Monday-typed limerick and favorite place poem (no rhyme).  We will also do other poems, all of which will be due next Monday.  T-Terrence.  W-Nathan, This Is Unacceptable.

 

Film - Continue with movies made madly.  Finsih Sliding Doors and then go to Memento.  Syllabus coming.

 

10th - Test on Tuesday on Book One.  Test next Wednesday on Book Two.  Test will have eleven questions.  You may use notes.

9th -- six paragraph essay --see character words

 

10th -- see above

12/5-12/9

9th - about 20 pages a night, quizzes next day.  On Monday, you should know what your topic should be.  You will educate the class as to a danger or a good thing in regards to health.  The big test will be Friday, December 16, and you will begin presentations Monday, December 12.

10th - test tomorrow on Books 1 and 2.  Strangely enough, I now have ten questions.  Should I do five and five?  If ten, you could make a 115.  Think about it.  Keep reading.  Next test on Monday, December 12.

11/28-12/2

9th - for t, read Intro and Chapter One of Omnivore; for W, read 2/3; for Th, read 4/5; for F, read 6/7.  For M, read 8/9.  By Monday, know your project topic.

 

10 - T-up to Chapter 3; W - 3 and 4; TH - 5/6; F - 7/8; M - 9/10/11/12

11/14-11/18

9th - project due Monday: cast ten characters, pictures and description from book and your words why.  If you want to get ahead, start reading the ODYSSEY.  It's in your textbook.  There will be a test on next Friday or the Monday you get back from the break.  It is your choice. 

 

10th - Please procure ROYAL HUNT OF THE SUN by Monday.  We will do the play, but not perform or memorize.  We will also see parts of documentaries on Aztecs and Incas.  This is a fascinating time, and it's one of the reasons Spain became so powerful--and so feared. 

11/7-11/11

9th - 100 pages for Monday; Ayn Rand revisions due Wednesday; 50 pages for Wednesday; test on Friday, project due on next Monday.  You will need The Omnivore's Dilemma (Young Reader's Edition) in about two weeks.

 

10th - test on Monday; term paper revisions due on Wednesday; grammar or vocab starting Thursday, but get Royal Hunt of the Sun

10/31-11/4

9th - Ayn Rand essay due on Monday; possible quiz on first 25 pages of Hunger Games; 25 pages a night after that; finish Gattaca; work on Ayn Rand revisions; big test/project on HG due next Friday

 

10th - test on Book One of Birth of an Empire; watching Mongol; see Iggulden explain Genghis; test on Book Two the following Monday

10th week and Friday the 14th

TODAY--If you do not want to count your essay, e-mail me and let me know.  If you do nothing, I will counti it.  No, I will not grade it and then let you decide.

9th - vocab on Monday and Tuesday; reflections on Wednesday; wordmaster on Thursday; test on Friday.  Reflections due on Friday.  Go to lhsptsa.com for info.

10th - vocab week; test on 4-6 and 1-6 on Friday.  Wordmaster on Thursday.  Procure copy of Birth of an Empire by Conn Iggulden.
