BVP IIIA & IVA Update

LNN rolls on.  The only additional news I want to add for these students is that we have started to stream live our broadcast on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 9:23am.  And we are now posting many videos from Lassiter.  From sports, to news, to entertainment.  All videos are produced by the Lassiter Broadcast Video Production dept.  Check out the link below.

BVP IIA Update

The second edition of Uncommon Ground has just been completed with mixed reviews.  The TRT (total running time) of the show was 20 minutes.  That is too long!  The producers and the production team agree that the segments will be shorter and more conscise.  We also agree that our OCHs (on camera hosts) are too scripted and stiff.  They will do more ad-libbing and beome more personable on camera.  You can view the 2 episodes of Uncommon Ground AND many other sports and news videos at the link below.

BVP IA Update

We have just started the unit on scripts and storyboards.  They will identify and properly mark their script in the television/news format.  The students are now starting to realize that when they watch their favorite TV show or movie that there are hundreds, if not thousands of storyboards that are prepared in pre=production.  We are also learning a little bit about advertising and that time is MONEY.  They will script and storyboard a 60 second TV commercial.  Not a 59 second or a 61 second commercial, but a 60 second commercial.  The rubric is very specific of all the elements that must be included.

BVP IIIA & IVA Update

Last week, as usual, the Jumbotron students did an incredible job with the production during the football game.  Nobody in the stadium knows it, but they have very serious audio technical issues and they continue to do a great job.  I am very proud of them.  Today's broadcast during homeroom was also awesome.  We now broadcast on channel 6 to the school and we just started streaming the broadcast live at www.ghsa.tv/lassiter 

BVP IIA Update

Uncommon Ground is finishing up their second show with a strict 2 week deadline.  The OCH's (on camera hosts) shot their intros to the segments for the show today.  They utilize the TV studio and control room to record their tosses.   They are responsible for the script getting into teleprompter, their graphics and to build a chroma-key effect.  Next week will will post it at www.ghsa.tv/lassiter for your viewing pleasure.

BVP IA Update

They have just finished 2 video projects concentrating on shot composition.  They have also just learned about the editing process.  We've covered linear and non-linearing editing.  They have started to edit projects using the i-Movie program.  We will begin the unit on scripts and storyboards on Monday.  They will realize that all their favorite TV shows and movies are scripted and storyboarded.

BVP IIIA & IVA Update

These students are the "cream of the crop".  They will produce a 12 minute "live" broadcast during advisement on Tuesday and Friday.  And they will be in charge of the Jumbotron production during home football game.  They will encounter numerous technical issues in both productions.  They will also overcome these technical issues to provide quality productions.  The real world experience that they obtain throughout the school year will be very impressive to colleges and future employers.

This class will produce a show with an informative and entertaining format.  The name of their show is "Uncommon Ground"  It incorporates many standards that need to be learned at level II.  With pre-production, production and post-production involved, it requires a real world professional television environment.

We have completed the unit concentrating on the history of television with an open note test.  We are now concentrating on cameras.  How they work, F-stpos, apertures and shot composition.  They are learning shot composition terms that are used in the television and film profession.  They are assigned an area on campus and have a very specific rubric to get assigned shots.
