I hope everyone had a restful holiday weekend!
Lassiter Trojan Band- And the temperatures have finally gotten cooler. What a difference in only a few days!! Marching Band practices will be much more tolerable but don't forget to keep hydrating. This weekend is an away game at North Cobb. We will take a pep band- look for the sign-ups in the band room. And this Saturday, Septembet 10th is a 9am-9pm practice. A great chance to get a lot of work done. Bring a lunch and money for dinner.
Sym II- Audition results will be posted Wednesday of this week and you will also receive your grade and comments on your work for this first playing test. Playing Test 2- due date is September 20th. You will play all of your All State scales according to your grade level at the tempo and in the style marked on the scale sheet. Scale sheets will be passed out in class but they are also available online at www.gmea.org. Smartmusic has the Georgia All State scales- a great way to practice!!
Woodwind Technique- Audition results will be posted Wednesday of this week and you will also receive your grade and comments on your work for this first playing test. Your first written test will take place in class on Thursday, Sept, 8th. It will cover breathing and how to practice. Consult your notes and handouts from class. Playing Test 2 will be due Tuesday, September 13th. The test will be on Concert F, Bb, Eb, and Ab scales as they are listed on the All State Scale sheet, which will be passed out in class. The scales are also available at www.gmea.org and you can practice them on Smartmusic- a wonderful practice tool.
All-State Sign-ups will begin this week. If you are interested in trying out for All-State or Honor Band look for the sign-ups on the white board in the band room. We will also be sending home a letter with information regarding this playing opportunity and I will post more details later this week.
