Week 3: Focus on Testing: SAT and ACT
Content Standard #2: Students will develop strategies to ensure academic success in core studies required for entrance to four-year colleges and universities.
Tenth graders are preparing to model the tutorial process for the ninth grade AVID I class. They continue to practic tutorial skills, binder organization, assignment completion, Cornell note-taking strategies, and presentation/group building skills.
Eleventh graders are preparing lists of high school academic, elective, and athletic activities in preparation for applications to colleges. They are continuing to practice Cornell note-taking strategies, tutorial procedures, and presentation/group building skills.
Seniors are working with the Senior Checksheet of College-Entrance Requirements. FAFSA workheet and steps for completion, investigating FAFSA and other financial-aid based websites; looking at both the SAT and ACT and how the scores are interpreted. Students continue to practice tutorial procedures, Cornell note-taking skills, and presentation/group building skills.
Assessment: Completion of forms, evidence of preparation for college applications, tutorial and binder success for this week.
