Wednesday of this week is the end of the six-week grading period. As you've noticed, I've put grades into Pinnacle for parent and student access. Please be aware that all assignments were added at the same time, and all work is due to be finished by the end of the semester.
English offline assignments have not been entered for any English classes except World Lit A. I'm currently working with students to share their offline assignments with them, and I'm encouraging students to take the assignments and books home. Offline writing assignments can be typed at home and brought in or emailed to me for grading; reading assignments will be tested in the classroom on paper. Any handwritten notes taken during reading may be used on tests. Protocol is only one opportunity to take each test so take notes as you read and plan to do your best.
Please remember there are several factors in determining NovaNET grades. The module average is displayed in Pinnacle. The completion average is derived by dividing the number of mods completed by the number required. Example: Physics A has 4 modules; if two of the four modules has been completed, the completion average is 50%. Students are expected to complete at least 33% of their work during each third of the course- or each 6 week grading period.
I continue to open the lab at 7:45 a.m. daily so students can spend 30 minutes of extra time daily on their online modules. I encourage students not to get in trouble but to choose ISS over Saturday School or suspension as they can work on NovaNET in ISS but not in Saturday school or at home. Offline English assignments can certainly be completed during time spent at home sick or on OSS.
