NovaNET: Week 14

Deadline for all English papers is Friday, April 29.  Note:  this deadline is for full credit on papers.  Even if the deadline is not met, all papers must be completed in order to recover credit.  Rubrics are on the front table in rm. 414, and extra copies of assignments are in the folders on the same table and posted on the bulletin board.

EOCTs start next week.  Make sure you prepare by using your EOCT practice folder.  Take the practice released EOCT test, grade it by the enclosed key, and then use either USA Test Prep or the GA Dept. of Education website and your notes to target weak areas.  All EOCTs count 15% toward your final average.

Grades:  Remember the grade on the 12 week progress report is now out of date, as you have completed work since the grade cut-off of April 13.  Feel free to check on your progress, and remember you should be keeping track of your mod grades on the gradesheet in your folder. 

Extra time:  Students are welcome to come in during their lunch when a seat is available.  Extra time is offered daily from 7:45 a.m. until 8:15 a.m. for an extra 30 minutes a day.  Students who avail themselves of this option can accrue 2 1/2 hours of extra time each week during the before school session.

NovaNET: Week 13

End-of-Course test dates have been announced.  The revised schedule is as follows:

• Biology:  Tues., May 3 and Wed., May 4
• Economics:  Friday, May 6
• Math I:  Mon., May 9 and Tues., May 10
• Math II:  Tues., May 10 and Wed., May 11
• 9th Lit and American Lit:  Thurs., May 12 and Fri., May 13
• US History:  Mon., May 16 and Tues., May 17

Students have study folders in rm. 414 with released tests, answer keys, and instructions how to access both the GA Dept. of Education website and USA TestPrep for study and review.  Taking the released test first is suggested to narrow the fields of study to those with which the student is struggling.

Please do not be absent or make appointments on days your EOCT is scheduled.  The end of the school year is so busy;  make-up testing is very difficult to schedule.

Remember the lab opens at 7:45 a.m. daily for extra time.  Students are also encouraged to come in during their lunch when a seat is available or after their last class if they have minimum day.

NovaNET: Week 12

GRADE CUT-OFF IS WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13.  Do your best to get as much done as possible so your average will be as high as you can get it for the 12 week Pinnacle progress report.

I've prepared practice folders for each student taking an EOCT. 

THE EOCT COUNTS 15% OF YOUR FINAL GRADE.  PREPARE TO DO WELL.

Multi-Cultural Lit students:  the second deadline for writing assignments was March 30.  Many of you are behind.  Get the work done.  Even if you miss a full-credit deadline, remember each assignment is a module that must be completed for credit.  As always, rubrics are available on the front table.

9th, 10th, American Lit students:  You have offline assignments for both reading and writing.  While I did not set benchmark deadlines for underclassmen, you must complete each module to recover credit.  Please be mindful of your time, get your assignments done and in to me to grade, and stay on top of the amount of work you have to do.  Rubrics for your writing assignments are on the front table in the room.

Extra time:  Students are encouraged to come in for extra time before school and/or during lunch.  Ask for a pass if you'd like to come in during lunch.

ATTENDANCE IS VERY IMPORTANT.  BE HERE DAILY TO GET THE WORK DONE.  EXTRA TIME WILL NOT MAKE UP FOR AN HOUR OF CLASS TIME EVERY DAY.

NovaNET Spring Break Update

Progress reports for 12 weeks:  Grade cut-off is Wednesday, April 13.  Report cards should go out the following Tuesday in Advisement.

EOCTs are the first two weeks of May.  No ASE during the month of May because of AP and EOCT testing.

Study for your EOCT over the break.  Get your practice folder from Mrs. Armistead.  The folder contains a released test, an answer key to check your answers, and directions for study guide available from the Georgia Department of Education website.

Study Guide Access:  From the website, scroll down to the rectangular search box.  Scroll down to End-of-Course test.  Once you click on that page, scroll down on the right to study guides.  Select your course.  Use the sections where you missed the questions on the released test.  Be ready with questions, if you have them, when you return so you have time to get help.

EOCTs count 15% of your final grade.
