Remember all writing assignments for NovaNET English classes are due two weeks from this Friday on October 29. Rubrics are located in the room on the table with the folders. Students have copies of their offline assignments in their folders, and they are encouraged to take these home to do with the assigned textbook for the course. Books may be checked out from Mrs. Kreis in her office rm. 721 during 6th or 7th period. These instructions have been on the board for weeks, and students are offered frequent reminders.
Students have received their third progress report, and parents are asked to sign and return or email receipt from the top of this page. Again, at the midpoint of the semester, students should be at least 50% of the way through their course(s) to be considered on track to finish on time. Bear in mind that EOCT and final exams will also take time from the last few weeks. Students in EOCT courses can work on EOCT study and on assignments for another class.
The lab continues to open at 7:45 a.m. daily, and students who are not on track and apply themselves diligently bell-to-bell may come in for half of their lunch period, if space is available. The student should ask for a pass from Mrs. Armistead. This option is not allowed when a substitute is here.
Finally, if you're not on track, let's figure out a plan to GET THERE! Come in early, rev up to get the job done, come in for extra time in the morning. Asking for help from a subject area teacher is acceptable; taking test questions out of the room is a violation of testing ethics and protocol. Lesson questions a student may struggle with can be taken to another teacher for help. The point is to learn the work before attempting the test. Remember, the EOCT will count 15%. Students can use hard copies of released tests in the room and check their work by the key to see what areas may need extra help.
As always, email Mrs. Armistead for updates on progress, issues with technology, or concerns about our program.
